That's the movies.  The reality is Bernard Getz.  Who went to prison for having an illegal handgun in NYC.  The ONLY person ever to be convicted and sentenced for this.

Only because he turned himself in.

No one on that subway train ever told the investigators who he was or a gave them a good description.

Until he turned himself in, the subways were safe again.

...but the liberal left POS DA and judge chose to prosecute and sentence him.  He was treated worse than the career criminals who get that charge dropped in plea bargains!

Another guy shot a few muggers a few weeks later.  Wasn't stupid enough to turn himself in and was never found.  Cops didn't even look for him.
