Albino Deer ?

Is it legal to shoot an Albino deer in the wild , like in 8F ? I don't see anything in the regs saying that it's not legal .

As far as I know, there is no regulations against taking albinos, white color phase deer, or black color phase deer.

In NY you can shot them, in other states you can not

I think they are trapped at an army base in watkins glen.

The white deer are on the Old Army Depot in Romulus not Watkins.

Different genes, in geneva ny there are white deer from somewhere in Europe that were captive on an old military base.  I'm not sure about watkins glen,  and I believe they can crossbreed with whitetails, however Albino deer are a genetic anomaly and are actually white-tailed deer.

The ones at the base and around are not albino. (there are some albino but the ones on the base are just a recessive color variation. They are Melanistic

They're not different deer from Europe.

I'm not sure i believe that. I dont see Seneca County in the study your presenting. I used to go there as a kid with my dad and thats how it was explained to me.

I've got an all white deer on our property in 8F also. Haven't had him on camera since October so hopefully he's still alive...

Yes its legal. My friend shot one last year in 8F. Its still at the taxidermist. I think its almost done now though.

Believe what you choose.  the dark variation is melanistic the white variation is leucistic.  They are NOT albino and are not from Europe.

Yes only a few states have it illegal. Ny your good to go .

Got this 8 point on Nov 27th in 8P, had a white tounge too. Having the legs made into a gun rack for camp.

Answer is yes in NY. Some places I believe it’s illegal. That’s ridiculous but I saw that somewhere. I’ll try n find state.
