Car question

Isn't there one fluid that can be use for 2 purposes in a car, like brake fluid can be used for power steering? I know it might be a stupid question but . .

I don't think either is a multi use fluid so I would go with brake fluid for brakes and steering fluid for the steering .

Make sure to check you turn signal fluid every couple of years .

Thanks, i was adding brake fluid and i just starting thinking that i remember yrs ago using 1 for 2 purpose, just couldn't remember which.

Brake fluid is also used in clutch fluid, but tranny and power steering was used interchangeably in older cars, now they are mainly separate but if in a pinch, you bet I'd use tranny fluid for the PS.

Brake fluid and clutch is both DOT fluids.

In a pinch you could use tranny fluid to top off the power steering, but i wouldn't use it to totally fill the steering pump. Cars are too specific these days, as far as fluids (other than motor oil) goes. I know that if you put anything other than Honda steering fluid, into a newer model Honda, it will cause big time problems with the system with in a day.

NAPA also has headlight bearing grease on sale till the end of the month.

I know that in the Navy they use latitude bearing grease for everything.. I know for a fact. When I first got on ship out of boot camp, the first thing the chief sent me out to find some and told me not to come back until I found some.. I spent the hole day looking until someone told me what was up. Not bad because I know a few guys wno spent two or three days looking. .

We usually tell the new guys at work that we have a load that is too big and they need to go to maintenance to get the trailer stretcher and a bucket of steam to run it.

More often than not. You should see some of the stuff maintenance will send them back with. Big bins full of chain, rubber hoses on a roll, conveyor parts.
