from my limited understanding of these things , the animals heat up during the day ,then distress in the cooler evenings. If it stays hot overnight for some period of time,the ranches and  feed lots have measures to cool them , spraying , moving to shaded areas and so on . So perhaps someone was sleeping at the switch , or if they were insured, cashing in , although with meat prices idk about that . There’s often many variables .

I hope they narrow  in on the true cause in the coming weeks.
