Pygmy's Old Gun

Recommended Posts

I bought this from Pygmy in the early days of this forum.  It is what started our friendship, I'd almost say it was love at first sight.  :)

Remington XP100R chambered in .308 Winchester.  I put a Leupold 2.5x8 EER scope on it with Redfield rings and bases.  For the life of me (and I don't feel like going downstairs and pulling the file on the gun/load) I don't recall the bullets I used.  It was great fun and certainly a challenge to hunt with.  I only killed one doe with it at around 200 yards one year then the next they legalized the centerfire rifle in Livingston County and I sold it to a friend.

Dang ... I thought somebody was selling a xp in 308. Nice gun in the perfect round .

I believe I recall seeing the same gun in .308 improved on the 24 hour campfire classifieds recently.   If I see it again I’ll let you know.

Your memory is slipping, Good Buddy....That XP-100 was chambered in .260 Rem, which is ballistically equivalent  to the  6.5 creedmor, which is the current rage in deer hunting..

I killed about five deer with it before I sold it to you... My handload featured 100 grain Nosler  Partitions....I'd have to check my old reloading logs to remember the powder....
