Didn't see anything today. Starting to think that there is enough people to spook the deer but they must bed down. I expected to at least see one deer running full tilt after a shot but the only thing I saw the last two days was a doe that was in range but I couldn't get a clean shot. Will be back at it tomorrow

7f the absolute worst opening day in a decade to warm no orange army to move any deer. Might as well be on a island with no wildlife

I got one just after 7 opening day(my 3rd 7f harvest of the year). I also heard a lot of shooting the 1 hour I hunted Saturday morning.

is there still alot of standing corn in your area? My sightings went way up last week when the last 300 acres came down.

Also of my 5 deer harvested in 7f & 7j this fall only the last one had stained tarsals so rutt seems late up here.

Keep at it, they are out there you will score.

Saw a nice buck at 630am yesterday. Watched him for a few minutes as he presented me with many opportunities to take him at about 150 yards. Couldn't make out how many points. Proceeded to have one of the worst days I've ever had hunting, 5 ticks while I was walking around a bit followed by pulling 4 more off my clothes when I got home. Left the woods at 930 when nature called. Wasn't about to drop trow with all those ticks. Glad I made it home, I started to the the sweats lol hopefully this afternoon will be better.

after fighting the wind trying to get to the blind ...I saw just a single flag running at a good distance through our woods...on the way back I took a slow stalk to an area I've avoid....went to pull a cam card of a trail cam there ....no card...hhhmmmm...so I went over to another on the edge of some thick stuff and pulled that card...lots of doe walking through and a raccoon...took that and a spare card back...moved other cam..to a less noticeable area..

Couple of times in the big blind I got nervous...the winds rattled and rolled through it...Beautiful sunny out ...too bad the wind is so horrific.......not sure where I'll go this afternoon...my try a low  area ground blind....

3Hrookie how did you make out with the bear?

Well it was a long day I shot the bear 715 roughly gained permission to my neighbor at 8. Ran into my neighbors neighbor he heard the shot and heard the bear pass his stand. I tracked it there by the moss being ripped off rocks. I went home to try and call my buddy to bring his dog but he never showed after thinking about everything and as upset as I was I headed back out in an orange tee no jacket. I walked almost an hour and a half into the woods into a landlocked property owned by some rich guy in Brooklyn... obviously the realtor that was selling the property was not in that early and I know for the fact the neighboring Hunting Club Hunts there. I took the Chace and walked it. I fell twice going thru brush. I just gave up at that point. I was in an area with that annoying thick brush that doesn't die out in the winter. walking back I stopped on a rock to quiet the woods that was just shy of a Ridge. I heard a loud thump. Hard to explain. There was no leave ruffle to it just a thump. I couldn't get to the top of the ridge in time to see anything. I also waited to long to make it there to see movement. The hunting club didn't respond to me on the radio and thank God I didn't walk into anyone. I then walked back after being lost for a lil while and sat down my stand waiting for my friend. Now mind you i was alone all night and hunted solo. I wasnt planning on shooting a bear but he walked into my lane. . So I took the shoot. Prefect shot too which I still dont regret taking except I should of went for the neck. Im using a 20guage rifle barrel slug gun. It was sighted and cleaned. New box of rounds too.. I feel terrible. . But I did what I could. ... im a Young Hunter and I'm learning everytime im in the woods. . Anyway later that day I ran into someone at the gas station who hunts the Hunting Club across 209 he said he knew the club that borders my property and was actually going to reach out to the guys to try and get information that night I still don't have a text message or missed call from that guy... So there it is.. I did the best I could

Took a afternoon sit behind the house.... no deer but deafening noise from a flock of crow up on the lease land...I've never seen nor heard that many before....alarm vibrated and I packed it up for the day...the dogs just started to barked...so I'm sure there moving past right now....figures...

I moved a stand mid day  and Mr. B saw nothing in the area on his way home...so I will try it in the morning and see if it changed their movement or not...it is against a tree that has a massive wild rose growing up it....even with pruners...I'm a pin cushion right now ...So the stands ladder is well hidden...the rose extends 4 ft out all around the base and gradually goes to 2ft up by the stand seat....

      Hi Everyone,
It is current the last week for regular season in upstate NY. Living the life working and being a full time student, I have some time off this week and would like to take a ride upstate to do a gun hunt. Never have I hunted public land in the areas 3 G, F, or N and was looking for some recommendations and help! I had used the DEC info locator and found California Hill and thought I might go there. Is there any recommendations on areas to go to in any of the wmu’s? Or on California? Any help would be really appreciated!!

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

I'm new to the area and looking for some places to hunt  the next few weekends through bow/muzzleloader season. I'm living in New Paltz, and the place that seems the most promising to me so far is Vernooy Kill State forrest, and north into Sundown. Has anyone had any luck in these areas? Is there anywhere better in the area I should check out? Any info is welcome

      Hi Everyone,
My name is Raul and I am a new hunter! I've been hunting public land for now, but have been suffering. I've done 2 10 hour sits at Kings Park and 3 10 hour sits at Rocky Point and haven't seen one deer. I use a treestand and use scent blocker. I also get there super early in the morning. I need help! I plan to go again this friday. I scouted Rocky point after the first day and always see sign and I try to hunt the areas, but no success. I hunt around 42 and 36 I think. If someone wants the exact spot I can send them it on a map. I am really just looking for help in any areas and everything. I have put so much effort yet all i want is to just see one that will keep moral up. Any help is really appreciated!
