Hi All,

I am a New York based film maker and I am making a documentary on Hunting in NY over November. Would anyone be interested in being featured, taking me out for the hunt, showing me the ropes and letting me film the process? I think it would make a great topic to be filmed and hope that some of you are willing to help me document it.

Best,

This is indeed legit, and not a 'scam' nor 'Hogwash' . Although I do appreciate being called 'scum' on occasion, I don't see why you'd have reason to say that to me?

I am making a documentary and would very much like the aide of people who know what they are doing and are proud of their sport. If that's not you - no need to get involved.

Thanks again,

Andreas

It would go a long way if you posted links to past work.

In order to " show one the ropes" we would have had to started months ago, as most of the work is put in before the season .

It's kinda like saying your doing a documentary on courtship rituals , but only want to film the wedding reception . We know you're just going to get drunk and hit on the chubby bridesmaid.......

That said if it stops thundering,I'm heading out this afternoon.

Meet me by the corn field........

Think about it from our point of view, your first post is to make a documentary about hunting and we know nothing about you. This sight has been ini-dated with scammers and people looking to make us and our loved sport bad and like a bunch of scumbags.Thats why I said scum,if you are indeed looking to do a positive look at our sport then most of us would gladly help. Not knowing who you are makes us all a little apprehensive. What are in the state are you from?I would gladly sit down with you and talk about it,but until then I still will be a little on the cautious side.

I would hope people would be suspicious . Isn't this what we teach our kids about people on the Internet ? Hey he says he's an 18 year old boy who wants to meet you at the mall but he could be a 45 yo sexual offender. Hey there is Prince in the Middle East who wants to give me 1 million bucks, no,really he sent me an email.

Does that seem so odd that people would expect, " hi I'm Jim Smith, I'm a film maker 4 years out of xyz school where I majored in filmmaking, I'd like to,do a documentary on hunting. Here's my web site/ you tube channel where you can see my past work"

Who would get involved with someone after one post with out this info?

I'm most certainly not looking to make a mockery of you or of hunting. I appreciate you being cautious - I would be too if I felt a threat to something I love.

If you guys are serious about sitting and talking to me about it or taking me hunting and letting me film please send me private messages. We can do it on terms which you are ofcourse comfortable with.

I'm based in Manhattan - willing to travel across the state to work on it.

You want to meet for lunch and talk about this? I work in Manhattan and can easily meet you. I made a full length feature 10 years ago about my hunting experiences in NY. I'm an experienced FMP user and used all my video and photos for the last 20 years to create it. I'm not saying you can join me but could validate your request.

If u make it to WNY I'll let u tape me, but I do hunt in the nude. I feel its natural camo. Sometimes I get crazy with the face paint, maybe you could help me with that while we film..... and u don't have to be nude... its ur choice. Just no wandering fingers please ! They stink !

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

      Hi Everyone,
My name is Raul and I am a new hunter! I've been hunting public land for now, but have been suffering. I've done 2 10 hour sits at Kings Park and 3 10 hour sits at Rocky Point and haven't seen one deer. I use a treestand and use scent blocker. I also get there super early in the morning. I need help! I plan to go again this friday. I scouted Rocky point after the first day and always see sign and I try to hunt the areas, but no success. I hunt around 42 and 36 I think. If someone wants the exact spot I can send them it on a map. I am really just looking for help in any areas and everything. I have put so much effort yet all i want is to just see one that will keep moral up. Any help is really appreciated!

Just want to relay an experience I had this weekend regarding hunting regulations and other hunters.
I've had several  hunter's tell me last weekend(10/12/2020) that muzzleloader was open, it is not. I also had two other hunters last weekend confront me as to why my son was carrying around a rifle and hunting deer. I calmly explained the youth weekend and the rules around it. After that everything was cool and we continued our hunt.
I know at the end of the day we're all trying to participate in a sport we love and maybe harvest some game. My thought is to just make sure you're up on your local hunting regulations. Not just so you are within the rules, but also so you can assert your right to be where you are, hunting the way you're hunting.
I know when I have been operating outside of the regulations I have appreciated a person respectfully correcting my ignorance and I try to pay it forward by being informed and respectfully educating when required.
Thanks for listening, off my SB...

      Hello,
I am in the process of purchasing my first rifle to go hunting deer for the first time.  However, I have received contradicting information regarding the types of rifles that are legal.  Based on what I have read, it appears that I am able to use a bolt-action rifle with a pistol grip and a detachable magazine which holds 10 rounds.  However, I have been told that this is not the case. I can't seem to find where this is stated.  Can any one here provide me with some insight into this? I'd really appreciate it.
      Thanks in Advanced,
      Alfredo
