A must have, "MYRADAR" GPS enabled it give you doppler up to date with motion so you can see what is heading your way and you can estimate when it will get to you.

Pandora----more music than you can listen too. only a few commercials on the free app. Premium has none. But I only use it when I have wifi so I don't blow through my data limit.

get a good flashlight app. comes in handy when you need one but don't have one.

what phone/service did you get? I want to get a smartphone but don't want to sign a contract. I hear decent things about net 10 and straighttalk

If I had to start over again I would do Straight Talk.  But money was tight to pay full price for a phone.  So I upgraded through Verison.

Not sure if it matters to you but some apps use your data. last month i came close to going over mine. What i had that uses it is the flashlight, my pictures and calender. Even the dictionary and a solitaire game.

The free apps usually come loaded with ads, so that's where your data usage is. I have unlimited, and jail broken, so no free apps for me, just free paid apps.

I really like Straight Talk so far. 45 bucks a month for unlimited text and talk. They advertise data being unlimited too, but your limited to 2 Gb per month. I use data all  the time and have yet to come close to the allowance.

Some of the Apps I use the most for hunting are Google Earth, any of the good weather apps, I usually use The Weather Channel's app, and Scoutlook. I bought the Deer and Deer Hunting shot simulator for my old android phone, but havent for my iphone yet. For non hunting related apps, I have Pandora, photobucket, skype and a flashlight. I have a couple of games on there too and a local news app.

I'll admit that I get a little jealous at all you guys that get reception in the woods. I don't like to play with my phone when hunting, but being able to check the radar would be very handy sometimes!

When I do get reception I really like Weather Underground (wunderground.com) for radar and such, they have advanced radar modes and storm tracks for weather nerds like me.
