How long can it hang?

I don't hang mine at all. They're at the processor the night I shoot them. If I were to cut them myself, I'd get it skinned and in the shade asap then cut it either tonight or first thing in the morning. Supposed to be warmer tomorrow

I find it harder to cape the longer it hangs.  I usually cape and quarter them right after I shoot them.  if its a large deer I'll do it in the woods, build a small and cook some of the backstraps in tin foil w/ onion and potatoes for lunch.

I shot one Sunday night. Let it hang overnight and all day yesterday (44 degrees) but the sun never touched it. I had ice in the cavity and quartered it last night when I got home from work and into the cooler it went. Now I'll butcher a leg or 2 each day.
