Guys finishing off deer with hockey sticks, mag lites, knives and choke holds. You owe the deer better . A .22 in the ear , no visible wound, and quick finish  , stick gun back in boot and carry on . Post for entertainment purposes only .

Anytime if a second bow shot is possible is safer.

All other options is too close for comfort where one can get kicked or gored by antlers.

I agree. At this point I was just grid searching some nasty thick stuff so I didn't even take my bow along. When I walked up to him he was was just laying there on his side, moving his head around a little bit, barely breathing...he was all but dead. I would never attempt to stick a knife into a deer that was still alive and thrashing wildly.

So sat up along upper small field tall 8 was other night when I was down below in a small funnel. Well just before legal light expired I see him at 80 yards across small field cruising the woods 10 yards in. Cousin down below a ways and said he saw buck walk under the stand I was in last time lol.  One of the times I’ll guess right. Dinky fawn headed in and had 2 feeding at 15 yards for a long time.

Daughter is at college there thinking about setting up on top of the dorm or maybe use my climber on the light poles in the parking lots I don’t think anyone would even notice or care.  Maybe dress like a UB maintenance worker to blend in just sayin. Ha

Come on people. I know it happens where a deer needs finishing, but do we need to discuss methods of dispatch on here, for the whole Internet to see?

We're already judged enough by the public.

Your bow is upside down! And no arrow!

Can’t wait for Saturday hoping forecast stays like it is.  I have been watching a thicket that holds good deer every year and Saturday evening I have the perfect conditions to sneak into the swamp and hopefully arrow one of the big ones.

it’s been 2 years of waiting for the perfect early season cold front and wind to get in there.

I gave into peer pressure and just hung my only hang on where that Buck has moved through . It was a good reminder of why I sold my climber and all other hang ons , what a pain . Took me three times longer then it used to, many trips up and down with all the sticks , locks, haul line setting up,life line which btw I put the lock cable over  so I couldn’t  get back down with out undoing it .

And man that platform is small …

Its set so my back is to where he comes from , that way he’ll pass my left and all I need to do,is raise the bow and draw , plus the trunk gives me some cover .

So I’m sure he won’t walk that path a third morning now .

oh I also made a new face mask for the tree .

He will walk by. You made the right calll. Most people would have sat the other stands and watched him walk by a third time IMO. It’ll pay off.

Yah now I would, however it might be frowned upon when I was 16 years old. I have a 6 shot 22 revolver almost always with me.
