Shot a buck at 7:30 this morning, he came in, worked a scrape then headed past me at 20. I knew the shot was a touch back. Arrow looked and smelled like liver so i gave him seven hours. He went 63 yards, turns out I heard him die. He made some light grunts which Id never heard before as he died4bd7e76d787c184d534dd86e93b8aa4f.jpg

From your lips to Gods ears Belo!!   I'm not blessed with having a good deer population around the property I hunt, so it's always a grind for me! So few that I won't consider shooting a doe. Being selective about the bucks I shoot makes it even harder and more frustrating. I'm certainly envious of guys that see multiple deer on most hunts...

you and i seem to mimic hunts.  40,50,60 etc.....lol

I'm in 3S - yet another property in the management program. I haven't been here since 2018 but have really enjoyed the "new dirt" hunts this season. 68 and balmy- had to cross a trout stream to get where I am. A fly fisherman kindly showed me the shallowest crossing point after missing a strike(netted a few small ones earlier he said). Much more open than I recalled but we shall see what we see. 79787ccbda4f06af5c42fdc9edae3d82.jpg

I have 10 cell cams out and I’ve had little to no deer activity on cam over the past couple of weeks. Last night, not 1 deer! The night before that, a doe. At most, over the past 2 weeks, I’ve gotten 2-3 does and 2-3 small bucks on cam each night. Pretty much correlates with what I’ve been seeing it the woods! They cut the corn next to me on 10/10 and the deer have all but vacated the area. I walked through the cornfield, and I bet I didn’t find a handful of corn left on the ground!

I haven’t gotten a pic of a shooter during daylight hours since 9/26. One new shooter has shown up recently, but only in the middle of the night. Last year, my cams were dead until ~11/9. Kind of expecting the same thing this year….

1000% time to move your cams.

And this is exactly why I haven't shown a pic of a dead deer in at least 4 or 5 years. Don't care about others judgment. Maybe I haven't shot a wall hanger in 5 years, maybe I shot a doe this last weekend. I share with my family and close friends and have no need to "brag".

Thanks for proving my point though, maybe the others will understand a little better now.

That’s bullshit and you know it. If you didn’t give a F either way you never even would have put a pic up at all. If anything everyone on here is going to know you have not shot a wall hanger in 5 years because you feel the need to show a half assed pic like we need to approve it. Show a pic of your kill or don’t show a pic at all. This bullshit of saying it’s only for my family and then show a pic of a deer with no head attached says it all.

My phone started exploding just prior to having to leave the stand, so I figured why not, and took a look at the video of the huge suburban buck my buddy filmed in his back yard this morning. Only to look down and see a nice eight point staring up at me, wondering what the commotion was all about. He snuck in through some thick stuff while I was playing on my phone. I think there's a lesson to be learned in there somewhere.

I try not to take my phone in the woods. I have and I’ve posted on here while I’m using it or will read some news. But will be leaving it truck for the rest of the season. To much time looking down at the screen. Lol

So, while I was eating lunch and staring out the window, I noticed this. That buck must have made it this morning.

My wife finds it amazing that I can spot a rub from 150 yrds away but can't seem to see the crumbs I left on the counter.

Update...no deer, had a great guy from deer search come out with cooper the dog. Never really got on anything, did a total of 1.5 miles. Son is obviously devastated but its a learning moment and we will get better from it.

The best part is the learning experience and all was done correct.gotta get back on the horse and try again!
