New rifle

Well been thinking about it for a while going to runnings and dicks sporting goods. Not finding what I wanted. So went to 3 different places today. Nothing caught my eye at first 2 places. Was looking for a rifle scope combo. Was looking at several different calibers. Finally found rifle I wanted in caliber but they couldn't get the rails to put a scope on it. Finally he reaches down and comes up with a savage axis II 7mm08.  Camo synthetic stock light. 20 inch barrel. Caliber I was looking at. Put a buck masters sig Sauer 3x9x40 scope on it and boresighted. 4 shots I was with in a baseball at 50 yards. Got it set where I wanted it. I'm happy was looking at the Mossberg Patriot but they didn't have a caliber I was looking for. Now I'm going to try a few different ammo brands to see what she likes best. Also got a buddy who said he's got the stuff to reload also. Finally found 3006 ammo too. I love the feel of the rifle. Firing don't even feel the recoil. I'm happy.

Great little rifle. Love the 7mm-08.  I shoot the north American whitetail ammo. Most don't go far..

Congrats!  Should serve you well.  I have wanted a 7mm08 for awhile now, but I can't justify it.  Killed too many with my magnum to change now.  I have been happy with all Federal ammo.  Hope you find a flavor that your rifle likes.

Owner said looks like we're out of ammo for it. I said I just bought the gun now no ammo. He went to back came out said I was holding these for myself but I haven't gotten my license yet. Remington coreloks 7mm08 140 grain. Thanked him great guy to deal with. He didn't have to do that.

I have that rifle in Black chambered in 308. It's been very accurate and reliable for me using American whitetail 150 grain. Most deer don't go far.

Looked at a savage combo today. Chambered in 308 and wooden stock.

Won a mossberg patriot in 7mm-08 earlier this year.need to get some glass on it and shoot it,currently sitting in the cabinet never fired but am looking forward to it!found some Hornady American whitetail for it

That's the one I was looking for with the vortex crossfire II on it.

You'll never regret going to the 7mm08.....Kills well....Shoots flat enough for 300 yd +  shots.....Kicks noticeably less than other chamberings capable of  similar performance, such as .270, 308, 30-06, 7 Mag, etc....

I love my ab3 708. Dropped a bear and numerous deer in their tracks with almost no recoil. Good luck with the rifle!

I never owned a Mossberg Patriot, but my buddy from Ontario has one in 30-06...I have been beside him when he  killed 4 deer with 4 shots...Not necessarily close range shots either..The closest was about 100 yards and the farthest was about 275, all from my tower blind..

Unfortunately most of my shots are 100 at most so there will no be reaching out,honestly it's overkill for the property I hunt.will make sure I'm sitting higher up,that's for sure!

Kills just as well at 50 yards as it does at 350 yards...With recoil closer to a .243 than a 30-06....

I got my 3006 for walking which is limited this year due to hip surgery. Can't wait to see what this weapon can deliver. Maybe another rack for the barrel lol.

Love it man we have a beautiful buck cause of that jamming situation. This year hopefully we can double up. Yes was back and forth with buying one. Finally decided to pull trigger today.

I have aSavage Axis in 7mm 08 and love it. Ripped the combo scope off of it and put on a leupold v3 2.5 x 8. Also ordered an $11 new trigger spring for it from m Carbo. suggest doing that yourself too
