Four Season Whitetail's
Then that answers why I said what I did about transportation of semen vs deer. Has nothing to do with your favorite analogy. So whats your thoughts on urine? Its never been found in that either!!!
WNYBuckHunter
My thought is its fine unless they prove otherwise
Four Season Whitetail's
My thought is its fine unless they prove otherwise Then why is it ban for use?
WNYBuckHunter
I couldnt tell you. The only state I can find that has banned it is Alaska. Most likely bad info/politicians have to do with it, but I have read info that says it can be spread through urine. Like I said, if it can be spread through urine, then it should be banned from use. So one could say under your reasoning that you feel that anything that can indeed spread the CWD prion then that should be banned from use as to slow the spread CWD? WNYBuckHunter
Anything that could reasonably be stopped from increasing the rate of spread. Killing off every wild deer isnt reasonable. Stopping people from shipping the disease to new areas with deer pee and farm animals, is completely reasonable.

So your ok with the shipment of Alfalfa and grains out of a CWD hot zone that has been PROVEN to move the prion but you say deer piss has to be stopped when they cant even test piss for CWD so there is no PROVEN fact that it does move the prion? I would have to guess you are working on your agenda also!
WNYBuckHunter
The key word is reasonable I have no agenda
Four Season Whitetail's
The key word is reasonable I have no agenda So you say its ok for deer but not for hay? What in your view is the big difference? Reasonable?
WNYBuckHunter
The hay is used to feed livestock, etc. If there is a need to ship it out of the area that is reasonable, then fine. First it needs to be proven that it can be transmitted through hay or grain. One study is not proof.

First it needs to be proven that it can be transmitted through hay or grain. One study is not proof. So one study is not good enough for you to show that CWD prions can be shipped across the states via hay and corn to farms all across the country to infect the land the feed lands on but the fact that no CWD prions have been found in urine or saliva in whitetails you are ok with the shut down of their movement. Is this how i am reading your thoughts? You look at the studies and you see them say that deer..Most Likely..transfer the prions. But then they say they can not test live whitetail's urine or saliva for the prions. Strange would'nt ya say?
Kot2B
Why don't they do a spinal tap on the infected white tail to obtain prions? Obviously it doesn't work taking brain matter from live animals. How often is cwd present in the farm? Are the deer injected with tons of hormones like cattle or given antibiotics? Not trying to stir the pot here but there are too many unanswered questions.

Not trying to stir the pot here but there are too many unanswered questions. No hormones, No anti's unless needed for sicknesss. Big deer are made by matching up pedigrees just like breeding dogs. Most are dna'd in todays world. They have only ever found prions in the brain stem and lymph node in the throat. CWd has never killed a deer behind fence and to my knowledge only deer in research have died from it because they kept them in controlled areas and alive long enough to die from it. 99.9% of deer that have CWD are killed by a hunters bullet or his front bumper. That is a fact! No stiring needed to ask questions about something you dont know. Thats how we all learn. Not sure on your spinal tap idea would work or not but at least now they are doing research on the animals before depopulating any animals! But the truth is there are many more vectors moving CWD than just live deer and they need to be addressed!
