First-light
Looks like he came off the trail just to walk around the hunters stand. Yea I would of said something. On Long Island we share the woods with bikes, horses, hikers, small game hunters all during deer season. Just got to get along. If that was a riding trail maybe hunter should set up further off. That is what we would do.

" Specifically, it is illegal for any person to harass a person who is legally hunting or trapping (ECL Section 11-0110)" (https://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/94213.html#:~:text=Specifically%2C it is illegal for, animal from another person's trap.) What the hiker did was an infraction and on LI DEC would take action. One time I was deer hunting (Rocky Point NYS land) and mushroom pickers came walking through, totally unaware I was there. I said nothing and they passed through. When I checked out DEC asked if I saw anything. I told them only the mushroom pickers which ruined my hunt. They told me I should have called them, as it is illegal for them to pick mushrooms on state land. Basically, it is illegal to take any "resource" off state land without a permit/license/tag. This last bit always makes me wonder about shed hunting.

I reached out to an ECO and they said unless they physically see it there’s nothing they can do. This was said a few times by different officers. But tell them you came across a bait pile and they salivate Edited December 20, 2022 by bruno1 Misspelled
skully
That guy just walking through on mountain bike they will do nothing about unless he is banging pots and pans or someone is actually harrassing you. Use to deal with it all the time when I hunted westchester county.
Larry
Depends if it's public land you really can't do much. I would let him know I was hunting there and point him to the trail. Other than that not much you can do, it doesn't look like he's trying to heras the guy from that video.
Lucky118
If you hunt near trails your going to get this lol. Always amazes me the number of hunters who hunt feet from walking trails then give you a dirty look when you walk past them. There's 4000 acres past you bud I'm not waiting around for you to decide what your doing lol.
First-light
Late season gun hunt long Island Rocky Point. Almost noon we are on a big roadway. Buddy looks up and says what the heck? Here come 2 Golden Retrievers down the road. Now you get all kinds hunting out there, someone could of shot at them thinking deer. 5 seconds later a woman behind them out for a stroll. She came by and I told her it was shotgun season and it was not a good idea to be walking the dogs especially off leash. She didn't seem to care. She actually wished us good luck. Last ditch effort I said put some orange on the dogs and yourself. You can't teach stupid. She was reported to check in station. Seemed they knew who she was. What about the hunting dogs that run off (usually chasing a deer), get lost, and then roam the woods? All kinds of "non-hunter" interactions while hunting there. I was bow hunting one time and 2 guys kept ripping through the area on dirt bikes tearing up the fire road (there was a turn) like it was a motocross track. I stopped them and told them 1) I was hunting the area and 2) what they were doing is illegal. One of them then told me "It's okay. I'm on the job.". I told him it's not okay. Reported them to check station at checkout and was told I should have come out and got them. Yeah, totally give up my hunt and time off to do law enforcement for them. Another time, a military Huey helicopter decided to "practice" his landing/touch-down in a nearby field. Sounded like the scene from Apocalypse Now without Flight of the Valkyrie playing.
