Decoys

I have never used a decoy during deer season.  I was wondering about what experiences fellow hunters have had with them.

Not prime deke placement but had a few limbs blocking area I wanted set up. It is visible outside that branch. We will see what pops.

Had mine out 3 times only one doe seen it did not like it

Ive used them and shot 2 deer over them. I highly suggest that you try it!

I know one thing my brand New Glendale Buck got slammed in the back yard the other night.

 

The stack that you drive into the ground the rear one was bend almost to a complete 90 degree and the front one was bend to about a 30 degree.

 

The left rear hind quarter has a gouge about 11-12" long.

 

I wise I had my trail camera on it.

Yeah, he was walking in on pines to right and I rattled to get his attention. He came in and approached from behind, which is a first for me. He didnt have a great way to circle arpund or downwind so he came in on the path deke was on. Shot at 22 yds.

Rut is the only time I would use a decoy.

All our 3d decoys are in the shed. Haven't been out in years. We have had some luck with the Montana flat buck decoy. Placed on a brush line entrance, some of the bucks have stopped long enough to get an arrow sent their way.

Had great success !!!!! I only use a doe decoy though...

If you are Hunting for Does sometimes they get spooked...

Shot some nice 2/12 year olds with a decoy this time of year before the rut...
