22 pistol and 22 rifle hunt

Does anybody know if its legal to hunt with a 22 pistol and a 22 rifle at the same time?Squirrels that is.In case you miss with the pistol you can blast with rifle.

Don't know of any reason you couldn't. I carry my pistol and my rifle during deer season.

Rim fire and center fire .22 and under are allowed during the day where there is an open deer season.

Rifles are not allowed in certain counties and specific properties, so you must follow those rules as well.

.22 rimfire is allowed in any county for small game during an open deer season as far as I know. Nothing larger and no center fire rifles during the open deer season in shotgun only areas for deer.

Long island and Westchester counties are the only exceptions, where rifle use of any kind is prohibited...which I'm assuming the OP is already aware that rifle use is legal in his area as the legality of using his .22 rimfire was not the question...

I generally don't like to assume, that's where misunderstandings begin.

You're also forgetting unit 2A does not allow the use of rifles for hunting also.

There are also properties within rifle counties that do not allow the use of rifles.

The legality of using his .22 was not his question. His question was, can he carry a 22 caliber pistol while using his 22 caliber rifle... The answer is yes.

you can carry the rifle and pistol while squirrel hunting as long as you have a permit for the pistol.
