Ticks on hides

I was wondering if anybody does there own or friends mounts? Anybody have problems with ticks? How to get rid of them before taking skull out of cape? I put them in a bag and sprayed some heavy duty bug killer in there. Hope it don't ruin anything?

Im no professional but maybe freeze the cape for a few days. That should kill the ticks i would think

I heard that if you spray the hide or dunk it in some sawyers (permitherin) then you should be fine.

I generally skin while still warm. Last one I did was a bit concerning, luckily for me, I had a buddy with me that enjoyed torturing them by popping them. He said something about the sound of them popping soothed his inner hatred towards them or something of that affect. Hey, don't judge!
