BizCT
Got back in my blind just after 11am. 12 noon had 2 does and 1 Fawn come by me at 15-30 yards. Never saw me. I was eating lunch and had no facemask. Ground blind success. Too bad no buck. Glad I didn't leave to go for home lunch. They were carrying their lunch in their mouths. https://vimeo.com/190373987https://vimeo.com/190374012https://vimeo.com/190374033Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

BizCT
11/5: Hunted dark - dark. As noted above, dad saw a coyote at 25 yds early morning but couldn't get a shot through the brush with xbow. He's on ground too.I saw 3 deer at noon as shown in videos above. Saw nothing after that so at 530, I decided to give 3 soft grunts. 540 comes and I know I got 5 min of legal light left so I start to slowly put my grunt call, rangefinder, etc into my bookbag to call it a day. Just as I begin, I catch flash movement to my right. I only have 3 windows open in ground blind so that I'm hidden well. The flash was out right window and all of a sudden in the middle straight on window I see the big 4 I have gotten pics of the last few weeks. Ever since he came I haven't gotten pics of the 8, so maybe he kicked him out? Idk....anyway I'm not sure if the 4pt was coming to my grunt or just looking for a doe but he was coming fast nose knee high off the ground. He was getting close to my only opening so I let out a BEHPPP to stop him thinking he will take the last step or two and be wide open. Instead he stops immediately with a tree blocking his vitals. With a shotgun I would have shot right there thru the shoulders, but can't do that with xbow so there he was 19 yards away staring at me. Only move I had was to slide out of my chair and lean way left so I could put the crosshairs behind the shoulder. I literally had the tree in my scope and the crosshairs just left of the tree. Took the shot off hand while leaning but felt great. Buck did a little hop and went over the knoll. I heard running hard or crashing down the hill and also saw my lumenok glowingred fly down the hill. I knew it was a miss or complete pass thru. I waited about 10 minutes and decided to check where I shot to see if I could find any blood. I didn't want to push the buck but wanted to check that spot and hopefully find Arrow once it got dark enough. Figured I would just let it stay overnight and track tomorrow because I was nervous I would push it. Got to the spot where the buck was standing and found good dark blood. Pulled my cell out and quietly called my mom to say me and dad would be late for dinner. As I'm talking to her I'm glancing around looking for arrow and see white belly 15 yards away. I hang up the phone sneak back to my blind, cock xbow, put a bolt in and sneak back to the deer thinking I can do a follow up shot. Didn't see deer breathing and sure enough it was dead. Turned out to be double lung shot. This was my first xbow kill so I was shocked to see it die so fast. 1st year and 1st day deer hunting my parents new land, so a great start. First time hunting out of ground blind too and it was amazing. All 4 deer never even looked and all were super close. Also cool to shoot a buck I had pics of. This is my 7th NY whitetail buck, and while this 4pt is not the biggest rack, he was definitely the biggest deer. Swollen neck and heaviest of all my bucks. 15" outside spread, and rack was broken off on 1 side and had tree barks at the bases. Well I'm done till gun season now, so hopefully that 8pt comes back and my dad or I get him. Pics below.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
BizCT
First time ever using an atv instead of dragging a deer too. It worked great, especially since my spot is 1/2 mile from the car and it's all uphill drag.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
