growalot
Looking to be a bumper crop so far here. That is if we don't get a fruit drop. Most Apple's are loaded. On several of the wilds I Allowed a second sucker to root and develope a tree. This is what happens...wild apples in many , not all cases, are biannual producers. The doubles will have one side or the other in blossom alternating...so those trees produce every year regardless what happens the previous year. How do yours look?... Pears and plums loaded. Cherries and Mulberry as well...lost 2 persimmon to a bark worm. Peach is just OK and replacement trees looking healthy no blooms kiwi and berry bushes are loaded. turkeyfeathers
apples at my brothers have been pathetic the last 5 years. The only real food source on the land I hunt. They blossom, the frost hits and they're goners. I've always thought about trying to do a bunch of trimming but the frost gets them anyhow. You can grow kiwi here ? I had no idea Grow, you have some serious fruit trees. Well done.
ATbuckhunter
My peach tree's had a good bloom about a month ago and now they're covered in a lot of fruit. My figs didn't do to well though, for some reason.
growalot
These are hardy kiwi vines...fruit is different but tastes about the same...maybe sweeter.no fuzz and the size of a globe grape. Very high in vitamin C. One of the best heart healthy fruit around..and helps against cancer as well Edited May 21, 2016 by growalot
landtracdeerhunter
Cherries blossomed to early; frost got them. Pears and apples look good but, the wilds are on the off year; not expecting like last. Drawfs are full of blossoms right now. Had a honey bee swarm come in little after 11 this morning. Bees all over the place; went right for my pear. Tried dropping with a chain saw. Counted my chickens before they hatched, LOL. Early. Somebody up wind lost nice Italians. Mast crop looks encouraging. Spring has sprung, lifting my spirits. First swarm of the year always get me excited!
growalot
Yes the frost we had and snow wasn't good. Never as bad as the valley areas on trees I think. Though if the bees weren't out to pollinate due to the cold fruit won't be there. My pears show that big time in cold springs.I'm lucky though nee neighbor4 places down has 4 active hives going. Many more honey bees over the bumble bees this year. I love the smells of spring...
growalot
Update...several apples dropped most fruit...pears didn't pollinate well at all. The plums have no fruit and the mulberry trees are crazy loaded. The blue berries are loaded, grapes the deer munched but will have some ...haven't checked the Kiwi. The goose berries , currents, aroinia and quince all have good fruit and looks like the wild berries will be good...peach so,so...not sure on the hazel nuts or oaks yet. That last snow /freeze did more damage then I thought.

growalot
peach so,so. I have been growing reliance peaches for years...I now have them and polar I think...I love peaches but we have bark borers and they raise hell with both the peach and cultivated cherries...I'm on the verge of loosing a Stella right now borers and ants....its a 15yr. old tree half dead... The new newer peach are in the food plot below separated from the older peach in the garden area.

Something that has helped keep ants off my peach and fig trees is to put Vaseline on the base of the tree because ants/bugs don't like to walk on that stuff. Make sure you lightly tie some aluminum foil or something to have a barrier between the tree and the Vaseline because it will girdle the tree. The only problem ive had with peaches is leaf curl which can really stunt growth.
growalot
Here too never get Mericrest or was that Hardiglow nectarine....VERY susceptible to leaf curl.

G-Man
Apple are spotty due to snow when they were blossoming, those that blossomed late are loaded, didn't freeze off just no Polinators when it's 30 outside..
