Hey guys new to hunting here my wife got me my lifetime sportsman license as a gift. I just recieved my tags and license and was just wondering if it gives you the privilege of early bow season starting October 1 or do I have to wait till regular season. Thanks for the help.

Odd for your wife to go with a lifetime of you've never hunted before. What happens if you don't like it?

If she got only the sportsman license then you cannot bow hunt deer on Oct 1st. You need a bow license for that. Westchester is the only exception when you can bow hunt Oct 1st with only a sportsman license.

So if I wanted to go out before regular season starts for bow hunting I would have to purchase the bowhunting privilege then. Correct? Sorry like I said I'm very new to this but want to learn.

Where do you hunt or are planning to hunt?

Like mentioned, if you are hunting Suffolk or Westchester you can use it. Anywhere else you need the bow privilege license.
