Do you really believe this? What do successful bear hunters do with the carcass?

Here's one with a twist...

In Alaska in 1996, my hunting party found the remains of a black bear that one of my partners killed in 1991...

On the second day of the '91 hunt, one of the guys killed a black bear . We took the pelt and the skull, nobody was interested in the meat.  We already had caribou to eat and hunters are not required to salvage the meat from black bears in the fall...The guy who shot it had a full body mount done of the bear.

Five years later we hunted the same area...The skeletal remains of the bear were still lying right there...I have a picture of the guy who had killed the bear five years prior holding one of its shoulder blades.

I was walking down a powerline cut in PA bear hunting years back. You could see where the bears were scratching the poles and biting the low phone cable, I was told they do that because they hear the buzzing of the electricity and they think it's honey bee's. Anyhow, while I was walking I see that the top, power line is broke loose from the pole and hanging low, so when I get close to it there was a half decomposed bear laying there. Part of the scull was exposed, I wanted the scull but it stunk to bad for me to mess with, the maggots were frozen, and it still stunk, couldn't do it. So I give up and start walking when I find another one completely decomposed, just the scull and the back bone, cool find. When we got back to camp we called the power company and they were out there with in the hour to put things back together.

Never came across one in the woods. I did see this guy on the way to work last June. Newfield, NY area.

He was about the size of a second year cub, and he was probably just on his own for the beginning of his adult life. I felt pretty sad for him for a while after that.
