Watch for ticks!

Well my 7 yr old son was shed hunting yesterday by himself then went out with me later. Well this a.m. he asked me to look at his head. He said he had a piece of skin bothering him. Well its a tick. So this is a nice break in the weather but check yourselves! Off to the doctor.

Dang. Glad he let you know quick. I never even thought about ticks yesterday shed hunting and I'm really good about spraying permithrin for spring turkey

I've been in the woods twice during February and both times I found a couple of them on me when I got back to the truck. Always good to have a tick key just in case.

Just found a tick on my daughter. It's in the back of her head. I'm debating how to handle it. The doctor didn't seem concerned at all but they just freek me out.

No unfortunately it's been on her for a while. Today was the first day I was told about the bump on her head. We are going to mash just to have someone help and look at it. I'm probably over reacting but that's ok.

totally agree. Lyme isn't anything to mess around with. I'd think antibiotics would be in order too.

I get a couple ticks a year. Even with persevering on my clothing. Get it out. Save the tick and get it in for testing. If the red spot grows on daughter get her in for Lyme disease. Or just get her in period

Went to mash. They pulled it out intact. No redness no rash just a dry skin where the tick was. They prescribed an antibiotic for her just in case.

Walmart has the Tick Keys for less than $4 . Dicks & Field and Stream Carry them also .

I will be picking up one of those tick keys next time I'm in the store. This way I have an easier way to do it. We don't see many ticks where we live and hunt but obviously you just never know.

So, can lyme disease be contracted from any tick or ked, or is there a specific kind of tick that carries the disease. I heard that the tick responsible for contracting lyme disease was a tiny little critter that is a bit tricky to see easily. I don't remember where I heard that so I am not sure how credible that is. Anyone hear anything like that?

My son was telling me that the tick situation around the Naples area was crazy this year.
