Who's going out? Any advice for a new guy like me? I've hunted geese a few times but it was early season . I plan to hunt corn in catt county since the golf course down the road in Amherst won't let me lol . But what tips can anyone share on calling, decoy placement and numbers etc

Tried to make it once it was nasty lol I did like it smoked and crock pot was also ok

Wrap it in bacon !! Everything tastes better that way. Curious to which golf course ? They usually want them things outta there as they crap on the greens. Maybe ask superintendent there as temps this upcoming week will have golfers at the Dome here hitting balls instead of being on course.

Agreed maybe if I can get out of Amherst it's a chance I always see flocks coming into Audubon course on maple but figure being in Amherst they'll deny permission

Don't ever try to put goose or duck in the crock that is way to long to cook. For geese I always just take the breast and trim to small cube size pieces. You can marinade in any cheap Italian dressing for an hour. Then take a slice of bacon a chunk of cream cheese, a chunk of pepper and roll up in bacon. Put on a kabob stick with veggies of choice and grill. When bacon is done goose is done. Delicious

See, that's the reason I never got all excited about goose hunting. I have yet to see any agreement on how great tasting they are. And then, some of the recipes that people concoct sound more like they are trying to cover up the taste with all the marinades and stuff that they cook the meat in. If I have to bury the flavor of the meat in all kinds of glop and goo, then I don't see the point to spending hours out in a freezing blind with snot dripping off my nose and my clothes slowly soaking through. Come-on, can't somebody rant and rave about the tremendous flavor of wild goose meat?

Not to derail thread, but since 2008 i have noticed a breeding pair of geese that utilize a small farm pond on our property.  Every year without fail, and its always just two geese.  They will nest raise their little ones then take off until about this time next year.  What are the odds this is the same two geese every year?  It would make them at least 9. I don't know much about waterfowl any input would be great.
