moog5050
Up this way, tomato pie is pizza with sauce, extra oregano and pecorino romano cheese. Very easy to make. Is that what you mean by tomato pie? My grandmother's was excellent.
Culvercreek hunt club
Growing up in the Mohawk Valley and in close proximity to Utica it is impossible to find a good Tomato Pie out here. I swing by Roma's in Washington Mills or the one in Utica on Bleecker street. Best there is. never seen a good home recipe that comes close. But it really isn't hard to make. Saute onions, lightly brown garlic, add crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, basil, oregano in sauce. Spread over dough. Add extra oregano, cover with pecorino romano and bake on 400 until done.

The dough it the wild card. I have never tried this recipe but since the author does know and understand good pie it may be worth a shot. http://www.saldetraglia.com/?p=656 Now back to Grow regularly scheduled grossness....lol

Uncle Nicky
Where I live, tomato pie is a cold pizza, with semi-sweet red tomato sauce and lots of Romano cheese on top (no mozzarella). Lots of people rave about it, I can take it or leave it myself. I've had green tomato pie years ago, it was good. Here's a recipe I found, can't go wrong with Betty Crocker.https://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/green-tomato-pie/bf3369e2-ebad-4465-81bf-84cad52c9bdf

landtracdeerhunter
We have a recipe using mashed potato. We also make zucchini tomato pie. How about german potato pie, southern style. Goes great with lots of home made bread. Edited April 11, 2017 by landtracdeerhunter

Can't help on this one but have a killer minced meat recipe. i do a berries n cream pie that's no bake, easy, and goes good in the summer during berry season. No tomatoes required. been a while so i'd have to look and post details. it's heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice, folded in cool whip, and then whatever folded in berries your picking (blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, etc.). i'm lazy so i go desert style gram crust but use any you like. let it set nice in the fridge. i don't drink coffee but i've been told the combo works on a leisurely summer afternoon. supports dairy farms but will cripple the lactose handicapped.
