Crazy, i assume you already knew there was nothing in the water to impede your fall. Not good if there was rocks or a rock shelf under the water. That would be my fear

Yep we drove the boat around where I'd land and it was like 60ft deep if I remember right. That lake has rock cliffs like that all around it and they go straight down. It's called Lake Tenkiller in Oklahoma. There's a old rail road bridge in Hadley NY we used to jump off of in high school. Is a 90ft drop and a very very small area you need to land in or you hit rocks. It wasn't a jump for the faint of heart. Only 2 other buddies of mine did it with me. The old bridge across the sacandaga in Edinburg was 85 ft. Had to jump on the west side of it because the east side was shallow, this is what killed 2 teens from Amsterdam about 10 years ago. Always gotta check what your landing in before jumping and your good to go

Doesn't someone die at Kaaterskill Falls every year?

I was in the Aran Islands in Ireland and there's a cliff that is literally a 90-degree angle - walk straight out, fall straight down 300' to the sea. I asked a local guy if anyone fell off and he said, "the Irish tend to not be idiots when it comes to this stuff."

For those scared of heights, enjoy...

Not a chance you'd get me to do either of those things!

My biggest gamble is one donut or two............

Obviously you're not talking the behemoth Paula's donuts

As a kid I was afraid to watch or fly a kite. The term "go fly a kite kid" scared me ^_^

Climbing tree stands I have no problem, flying in a plane no problem, looking over an edge of a cliff, BIG problem. Wife keeps telling me how "scary" Highway 1 along the California coast was when we drove it from place to place on our honeymoon. I have no idea as my eyes couldn't/wouldn't wander from staring at the road. Supposedly there is no guardrails in a lot of places. "oh look, there's another wrecked car at the bottom" she'd say.

There's a metal sculpture of the second pic at The Garden Place hotel nearby here. It has the backdrop behind it too. I don't even like to look at that !

It's not my life, but if one continues stunts like this it will be only a matter of time before one miscalculates something and the result may lead to some unpleasant consequences.  I think dying from the accident would probably be the better outcome, since one wouldn't be a burden on anyone in comparison to surviving and being a vegetable for many years into the future.  Again, it's not my life, but I hate seeing people taking dangerous chances just for the brief thrill of it.

I swam out to Black Rock in Kaanapali Hawaii to jump off the rock into the water since I saw a bunch of people doing it. After getting slammed into the rocks several times while trying to climb up barefoot I finally got up there and found all locals. The only way down was to jump but you had to time the waves right so it was deep enough. I did it and my wife taped it from shore. Then I went on my phone and read about all the tourist people who died doing that jump because they didn't time the waves right lol. Needless to say I didn't do it a second time. Since I can post the video, here's a screenshot of me.

First picture sure i'd do it. I'd be scared but I would do it. Second picture depends on how much rock is there that you cant see.

Now jumping off cliffs into the water!!!!! oh hell no!!!!

my thoughts.  not much for heights scares me but awareness definitely kicks in.

I'm pretty dang mellow these days since I had kids. But if I end up someplace we a sweet cliff to jump from, I'll be the first one to send it. I've been beaten and broken from over a decade of motocross so I know the risks, but that brief thrill is worth it. You really can't appreciate life until you do some stuff like that. Good thing we aren't all the same, otherwise it'd be awfully boring around here
