Frosty am sit in the tree stand with xbow.  Actually had my first encounter with a coyote that trotted by at 30 yards.  I squeaked to stop him, but he was on a mission.  No shot.  Later a nice doe came in to 40 yds, quartering to, munched a couple acorns and was only steps away from getting a broadhead.  Unfortunately, she flicked her tail and walked straight back to bed.  No response to my calls and no shot.  Fun hunt, but no joy.

Did I make a mistake letting the yote pass?  I don't practice moving target shots with the xbow and there was some ground scrubby stuff that could have deflected a shot, I suppose.  Still, I have no love for yotes and they are an automatic shooter with a firearm.  Unfortunately, I was in a spot where the 500' rule was in play.

What a change! Hunting in hoodie and tights under outer layer...winds howling  but I'm in the giant maple stand...no movement. Sun glasses on and can still barely see..not a cloud in the sky.. had the windows and doors open at the house..Not expecting deer but don't care..what a reat afternoon to be outside in late Nov...squirrel  chase behind me ...jump started my heart...lol

I saw seven or eight out in a field. Too bad they took off when I put the truck in park. 

Ok well they were where I can hunt at least  hahaha

A little pressure elsewhere and BAM, deer move in.

I Know that was a slam at me...but I get along with them...they have given recovery rights and that site was there way before the stand. This is the site I walked the DEC to when they came to check our place and found nothing.. This is the site that they told me was legal UNLESS there was a town ordinance against it...Not one officer But 2 ,one was a DEC hazmat specialist from Albany.  Stand is there because one great location of deer and Turkey...Fantastic giant tree...the stand is huge. And it's where 3 properties connect,all three of us had problems with a group kitty corner to us...I took care of them within 5 years of building the stand. This is very common in farm country. I have cleaned up several of these found on our 5 different parcels.

.....Ps.. doesn't tame much to draw out the nasties does it..nor their followers...

In the stand in 9A. Hunting with my BIL today. Very windy but mild. Wind will die down, and temps will drop, in the pm. Will take a luch break at Ray's Tavern. Wish the neighbor would cut down their corn field already . . . .

just found out an all day meeting was shortened to 12:30.  Hoping to make it out for a pm sit since my afternoon just opened up!

Out today with my son. Already saw more deer than I saw opening weekend . Couple does two fawns and either a spike or a four.

Got out for last 1.5 hrs last night.

Had one the twin doe fawns hang out for 30 minutes. Caught my wind once but didn't leave after looking around.

Guess someone took her sister. They been running together all year.
