From the mind of an eight year old. Biggest deer in NY

A few of the biggest local bucks that I've ever had my hands on...

1.) Biggest buck that I've ever seen on the hoof: 187" gross non-typical 22-pt killed in 2002. Has several small abnormals broken off so he was over 190 when I saw him. Was a mid 140's mainfraime 10 the year before!!!

 

181" gross 15-pt a friend killed last season. Had a couple of abnormals broken...

 

181" gross typical taken by a friend in 2010. Would have been 196-197 gross typical if his antlers hadn't been damaged. The big side is 95" typical!!!

Friends late season muzzloader buck from 2013. Grossed 172 typical even without brows...

Another friends 168" gross typical bowkill from 2008...

Killed by a 14 year old amish kid. Never scored, but the only 7-pt typical antler that I can remember seeing...

Buck my uncle killed in 2013. Grossed 161" typical with another 5-6" broken off...

i know it can happen.  much less likely in some areas of NY than others due to dirt but with NY's hunter density and fact that most hunters could never hold out until actually maturity it won't happen often at all.  200" GROSS and non-typical i'm talking.  200" typical NET is a whole different world.  the current world record typical (Hanson buck) was said to be 4.5 years old.  It may have grew non-typical points if it lived, taking it out of contention. that buck is 213 5/8".

I think Cabin Fever had a 7x7 on trail camera  a few years back that got taken by a neighbor. Not sure if we ever heard anything about that score.

Just stopped into the DEC office in Albany to get my license and they have a reproduction of the Lucky buck. 198-5/8". Impressive to say the least. Picture doesn't really do it justice.

I have a video of a true giant 12 point in the railyard near the Walden Galleria. It's on VHS, I've been meaning to get it put on a DVD or whatever. I'll put it in my truck right now so the next time I'm passing a photo place I can drop it off

200" typical is a GIANT no doubt.  This past weekend I got to photograph the #2 typical "Found" dead buck in NYS.  It is in a neighbors house down near where I hunt in Canadice.  A young man found it 12-14 years ago, IIRC.

I believe it scored in the low 170's and is a MONSTER!! 

I'll see if I can hang a picture that ISN'T sideways...........hang in there.
