Finally found 2 scraps, side by side. Decent size. However there is no licking branch over them. Is this normal?

Typically scrapes will have a licking branch but every single time. Not trying to be smart but could they have been where turkeys were scratching ? Although those usually number in quite a few where a flock worked over a certain area

Definitely not turkeys. It's deer, and that's why I was confused without the branch
