Lost my eyes and brains

So last Saturday I shot a spike, brought it home, skinned, quartered, and put in the deer fridge to relax for a few days. Was kind of pissed that it was a spike so I decided I would book and “euro” mount it. Sawed off the rope of the head and rough skinned the skull. I never touched the eyeballs and brains and figured I’d get back to that the next day. 6 days later I said, “ooops! I forgot about that skull - let’s see what’s doing”

Here’s what I found

Brains- gone. Eyeballs - gone. Now I get that animals are probably picking at(I live in Westchester) it but I just left the skull on my wood pile- never got knocked off or dragged away.

What surgeons of the wild are that capable to peck the flesh away and not move the skull?

Buzzards? I live ia “city” in Westchester. I have chipmunks and squirrels as regular residents in the backyard. This year I’ve relocated a woodchuck(1st one ever in 15 years here), skunks, possum and raccoon.
