Boy Scouts...

Just called "Scouts" now. Heck, I don't see the big deal, if a girl wants to be a scout. Had girls on my grandson's LL teams. And sometimes they were better than most of the boys!  Scouts, are all about instilling good values in young people. ANY, kid can get something from that, along with having some "outdoor" fun!.

Some of you are missing the bigger issue: it's about destroying the entire concept of gender difference.

Girls want to join the Boy Scouts? No problem, within certain limits, of course. I grew up with farm girls who could whoop my butt or give me a kiss depending entirely on their feelings at the time. I never knew whether it was gonna be a punch or a smooch on the cheek. It kept me on my toes. But when people want to to destroy an American institution in order to prevent boys from becoming men, as appears to be the case here, I have a big problem!!! It's not about the girls joining the boys, it's about not letting the boys be boys and the girls be girls.

FWIW, I never had time to be a boy scout. I was driving tractors, mowing silage, and baling hay. And learning from my WWI veteran Grandfather how to be a man at that age.

no problem with it. They are just getting with the times.  There are more and more women interested in outdoor sports.  Women hunters and archers are the quickest increasing group.  I think its a good idea.  Whats the harm.  It doesnt mean the boy scouts will have less of an experience cause girls can learn how to put up a tent and make a hitch knot.  Life will go on with girls being real scouts its ok.

And I am probably the only one alive that thinks the girl scout cookies suck! lol .  Dry cookies blah!  lol

They are no longer calling themselves, or able to call themselves, the "Boy Scouts". What about this don't you understand?

I worked on several Boy Scout Jamborees over the years where the Girl Scouts were invited for the day. I was a flight instructor with Radio Controlled aircraft. The kids had fun. It could get a little goofy at times because the kids weren't anywhere near mentally developed, but they got along. Sometimes the girls went home at night, and sometimes they found they were allowed to camp away from the boys under the supervision of their own leaders. I was able to teach a bunch of young girls, and their instructors, how to start a campfire or make a tent out of a tarp. I often got a cupcake in return.

A couple of boy scouts in my troop had a "Playboy" mag stashed at camp 50 years ago. Snuck a couple smokes in too. Couldn't share the Playboy mag if girls are around...maybe the cigs...what has the world come to?

A great organization going down the drain. Sad.

Absolutely correct. Stop boys from becoming men and the war is over. That's the plan.

Read some Jack Donovan if you get a chance. I don't agree with everything he says, but he knows what's going on and sees it a very visceral level.

Can't  share thoughts and ideas among your young buddies either, Merlot. That's the point.

I really don't think you will have to turn your nuts in, at the door, to go to a scout meeting.

Boys will be boys!  Heck, a lot of our thoughts and ideas back in the day, were to figure out how to "get with the girls"!

But I can see the point here. Would The Duke or Clint, russle up a bunch of girls to go chase down bad guy's? Naww....don't think so.
