6K here I think..lol West Amboy. By Happy Valley WMU. I'm finding the areas and WMUs a little confusing,but I think I will manage some how. I'm hoping when I purchase my license,that the seller has all the answers,cause I sure dont.

Give a call to the DEC or stop in the regional office in Syracuse to get a brochure on Happy Valley. It will give a detail of the area. You can also buy the Geological Survey maps for the area (2 maps) which will help you greatly. It took us a number of years to learn the area effectively, but it is worth it. I dont have a chance to do much more than drive through it a couple times a year nowadays. You can also google earth Churchill Rd and Happy Valley Rd. in Oswego County  for a good view. Both roads pierce the rea north to south, and are almost entirely public lands throughout.

6p..i got stuck in southern tear with my doe tad at its like the smallest area around but whatever.I wanted 6k but you can't allways get what you want.I have a pref. pt so i will have 6k next year!!For now ill be buck hunting around the 6k area!!

ive seen alot of deer in 6k(orwell, redfield area) I have tons of rubs and scrapes behind my house, but i dont hunt here, i hunt farm lands in sandy creek, ellisburgh. Across the road from me is 3488 acres of state land(chautagway).

6G for this new member. I have property in Lafargeville and just the other side of Alexandria Bay (6A). We saw alot of buck activity during the Archery season but not much during daylight hours in the last 3 weeks. Anyone else hunt around Lafargeville?

There is some state land you can hunt over by the Prison in Rome. If going from Rome to Verona on RT365 it would be on your right. I do beleive that it is marked. Also if you don't mind a little ride down in Brookfield they have many acres of state land out at the horse trails. I hunt on private land in Vernon and Vernon Center but my aunt and uncle have about 90 acres I also hunt in Brookfield that is surrounded by all that state land.

i hunt vernon center and around skyline drive. lots of nice deer that way. it amazes me the difference in quantity and quality of deer from my home location right near rte 5 and just a mile up skyline makes haha

Anyone seeing black bears in their area? im in a-bay (6g) i only have access to public land and have been fortunate enough to fill my buck tag with a great deer , but now im on the move to fill the bear tag and this will be my first season going after one....so any info you would like to pass on would be great.

I have heard of a black bear right in 6p area only one and i'm not shure if it was ever shot or not..But on the deer not i've seen 2 more people with doe's in there truck from southern tear sounds like its hot down there!!

Anyone out around the Fort Drum area? Myself and a couple of other guys are trying to get a feel for where we should be hunting (big and small game with an emphasis on deer), but we can't seem to find anyone who can offer any solid opinions.

Taberg area here. 6K. I own 340 acres and pretty much hunt my farm. How's the hunting been in this area for 2015? My sons and I saw very few deer and only could muster up one deer (doe). Would like to hear from others hunters of their experience in 6K this fall.

6k just outside of Rome heading to Taberg, 150 acres 3 guys hunting only got one doe

In laws have land in 6k near Winona forest in Boylston. Tons of deer at night. Nothing during hunting hours.

6g, is dry. Not one good deer sighting, and I haven't shot less than 4 deer a season in 13 years. First season ever, I did not get one.

I hunt 6g and 6k only seen about 6 deer all year in 6k got 0 seen about 5 in 6g got 1 nice 8pt.My son hunts a lot with me in these areas to and he was only able to get 1 doe,bad year!

Just my 2 cents worth...but a reduction in DMP permits for the Tug Hill/Northern Zone would go a long way toward improving deer numbers in those sparsely populated WMAs.

I don't think it is so much the doe permits, as a lot of guys using their muzzleloading permit, bow  permit and regular season tags on bucks....some areas just cant handle it.(where many southern tier areas can).

I deffinetly think without a doubt that there is a greater concentration of deer down south at least in most areas
