Found my first "Dead Mans Fingers" ...or "Xylaria Polymorphas" today!
They make the perfect hand model for one of my carved antler skull rings....Muuuhahahahahaha!!!
Not sure what the other ones are. Found them on a stump in the yard while mowing today.

I never did get a response about what those stump shrooms are when I posted them last week. I left mine though- they felt a bit squishy

After a few days of rain I decided to make a quick lap tonight with my wife and kids. My primary target was milkweed pods. I've never tried them, but after enjoying the flower buds a few weeks ago I thought I'd give em a shot. After I gathered enough to test, we made a 100yd loop inside the woods and walked out with 3 lobster mushrooms a few chanterelles and a handful of perfect oyster mushrooms.

This has been a stellar year for me! My personal best and it's still in full swing from here straight through October.
Springtime yeilded the most morels I'd ever found. Since the 1st of July I collected 15+ pounds of Chanterelles, tons of Reishi, 8 pounds of Bi-color boletes, about 10 pounds of oysters and probably 10 pounds of dryads saddle. My freezer is so packed full of mushrooms that I need to take them down to the chest freezer. My dehydrator has been running nonstop. Life is good!

Looks like a Berkeley's polypore. Not edible as far as I know

Took a walkabout yesterday after work and collected some more nice lobster mushrooms, some wood ear fungi, chanterelles and about 8 pounds of oysters. I was up until 1am blanching & freezing shrooms.84e4ba5afef79f276e2f80cf987c571f.jpge7c03712ba1b4a3f0ef0935cf8d7f31a.jpg

Quick note to add that those parasols which are supposedly a choice edible can also resemble certain varieties of Amanitas which can be deadly. Proceed with caution. I haven't honed my parasol identification, but perhaps in the next few years I might.

Thanks...not planning on eating anything with scary look-a-likes. I figured if anyone you would be interested in what I found just walking the streets near my house. Certainly my daughter and wife thought I was nuts for even noticing them let alone photographing them
