2018 mushroom hunting

Interesting these chickens had a firmer texture that was just like chicken. The last ones I had were soft just like a sautéed fresh store mushroom.

Yep as they get more mature they turn stringy like chicken. It's a nice texture.
Soon they will begin to get woody and dry.

Seeing how these are Jack-o-lanterns(TOXIC) which are Saprobic, I would venture a guess that there used to be a large oak tree in that spot.

You could try to go out at night and see if they are glowing green

Damn PREDATE...…...you certainly know a lot about mushrooms ! You are absolutely right ! Very impressive ! There were 2 huge oak trees that we had taken down about 8 years ago. I even had the stumps grinded down.
