Always thought, he should've married Miss Kitty, and made an honest woman out of her.

With today's disinterested young people, you probably won't get many who will have the slightest clue who this guy was.  Many of today's generation couldn't tell you who the U.S. presidents were from the 60's thru Bill Clinton, never mind an actors name who acted in a TV western from the 50's to the 70's.   Ask them how many Gigs and Megbytes a freakin i-phone has and they can talk you to death, but ask them most anything historic or anything else of simple common sense and they will be clueless.

Right on both counts-- Helmut in the bush. Old TV still is going. I have to watch every dime. Might have to drop the cellphone soon to make ends meet. Good replys here! I can see all but one.

Remember watching Gunsmoke as a kid when you watched what your parents watched. Didn't have multiple tv's back then.

And only two or three channels, if you were lucky!

We're aging ourselves here, I remember my parents having company over and I had to sit on the couch and be seen and not heard unless an adult spoke to me...

Now they would call it abuse and I'd need a pony or puppy to pet as I was made to feel uncomfortable.

Times have changed for sure.... I remember cartoons only on Saturday morning at that was only after my chores were done.

My favorite show as a teen was the "Rockford Files"....

And yes there is no doubt that is James Arness, AKA Marshall Matt Dillon....

Yeah I remember James Arness in a couple of sci-fi movies, " The Thing"  and "Them"...

I also recall him in one of my favorite John Wayne flicks " Hondo" and one of my favorite WWII films, " Battleground" with Van Johnson and James Whitmore....

These were all prior to Gunsmoke, which I watched faithfully every week on one of the 3 channels we got...It was channel 12 in Binghamton..Can't remember what network, but I think it was CBS....

Gunsmoke, Dodge city, and Marshall Matt Dillon Ah the " Good Old Days" When TV was a privilege to watch.  The Riffleman  and Cartwrights were favorites. Actually like these over John Wayne.

High Chaparral was another good one. Also , The Big Valley.  Ah... the good ol days of TV, before reality shows and the Kardasians.
