Any riding lawn mower experts on here?

My mower has a pressure switch under the seat (stupid safety device) it can usually be jumped by 2 wires but when I do that it will start but not run when the clutch is released.  My question is is this some kind of resistance switch that I'll need to remove and buy a small pair of vice grips to squeeze it harder or can wires just be cut and wirenutted together. I am old enough and smart enough not to put my body in harm's way under the deck while it's running but I cant stand restarting the thing everytime I get off to move targets and other obstruction while mowing.

Just shut the mower deck off before you stand up.

The engine should continue to run even if you're not sitting on it.

I just wirenutted the two wires to the pressure switch together. But as stated if you shut the pto to the deck off and put the park break on the mower will continue to mow
