What causes this browning of leaf edges to tree ?

My daughters harlequin verigated maple.  Got planted 15 years ago for her first birthday and gift from my folks. Lack of water ?

Drought and sometimes from Sqautch breath. Tough to tell from a photo.

I have some trees that had it and dropped some leaves already. Less to clean up come fall.

A lot of maples have tar spot this year. It's a fungal that won't harm the tree long term. Mostly looks like spots with leaf drop. Your leaves look bigger than spots. Think I saw a dec press release last month
