First For Me....

So my buddy just calls and asks if we can come up and help with a goat problem this weekend. I say yes, then and ask what problem is. Trimming a big goats nails. Complete first for me, but when they ask me for something and I/We can do it, we are always going to help. I camp on their land, I hunt on their land, so if they need something I am always there.

That's a stinky job!

Coming up to help with whatever, will keep you camping and hunting for years in the future. Good for you Rob. Too much entitlement going around these days. Helping out the landowners is always so much appreciated, by the landowners!

It's not so much about the hunting or camping. That's a bonus for me. But, friends help each other, so even if I didn't hunt or camp up there, I would still go help out.

I have no idea what I'm in for with a big buck male goat, and trying to clip it's nails, I'm sure it will be interesting.

I had a single buck goat for brush control when I had some other livestock, pigs and beef at the time.

With soft soil not wearing his hooves I had to trim him regular. He was a pisser, loved to play, but had to watch his impressive set of horns; I put tennis balls over them. After a few attempts I built a mini headlock for him and that made quick work with some clippers.

Miss having animals but they are a 365 day job and don't allow for easy travel.

I'd go into it with a mouth guard and a cup........protect the goods.  A helmet might be overboard.
Pics for SURE ......rob.

Pics would be good...video might be better!!! Good luck- I don’t even like cutting my kids’ or my dog’s nails!

He has chickens, peacocks, and the goats. It sure keeps him busy.

They had the big male done when we got there. Helped with the does, hooves and meds. Mostly I just fed them corn to try and distract them.
Did some scouting for a few hours. Found some scat filled with berries, doesn't look like bear, but not sure what it's from. Not a bad day overall.dede28f36c7e8a56fafb343d1e8ec167.jpg621ec850afe3d8ac2ee8492445f6f9ec.jpgcbca253c07a4eb557170483fb93c544d.jpgfad042f24b9681fc6d3cc0dbb4dcb993.jpg
