I week from today my wife and I will be boarding are first cruise ship heading out for a 5 night cruise to Bermuda out of Baltimore Maryland. We thought about a cruise in the past but life got in the way and we never booked one this being are 30 yr Anniversary ( back in July) we figured if not know then when. Are there any experienced cruisers out there? Anybody know much about or ever been to Bermuda?

Took a cruise to the Bahamas years ago. Lots of food / drink on board. Shot skeet off the ship. Had fun but did have a “rough spot” (lol). It was freezing cold in our room. I got the brilliant idea to stuff a t-shirt in the vent to block the cold air flow into our room. Bad idea. It set off the fire alarm and several crew burst into our room to investigate. Problem was, the wife and I were in the shower playing. Oops!

Did a Bahama cruise out of South beach , sure it was nice and I’m sure you’ll have a good time, I found the food just OK . The rooms small, although we only slept in them .

The trips to the islands were good , and all I really cared about, not into the ships nightclubs or gambling.

We signed up for snorkeling trips on the islands which was very good, as well as the one beach we went to .

All in all I prefer an all inclusive on the beach .

It was well run ,and they move you on and off the ship very fast, no lines to speak of .

Been on a few cruises ..... two of them to Bermuda !  You will most likely gain a Pound per day .... buffet's everywhere on ship ! I believe there is a Distillery on the Island which is worth a visit ! You can rent a moped to get around , but we found a tour bus to be a better option .  What cruise line ?

Well know there's a new twist in my cruise vacation, I was informed on my way to Maryland that tomorrow's cruise will now be going to the Bahamas instead of Bermuda. They changed the itinerary due to the path of tropical storm Florence. That's what I get for booking a cruise during hurricane season Lol. It's really no big deal, the Bahamas was on my visit list as well. I'm actually making out good because of the itinerary change the cruise line is giving us 50% of our cruise price back in on board credit minus fees and taxes. Can't beat that!

Having a great time on the cruise, something to do from the time you get up to bed time with countless shows and pool activities. There is always a buffet ready somewhere on the ship I think I've gained 5 pounds all ready. The Bahamas were beautiful with prestine beaches and beautiful blue waters. Once again our itinerary has changed with the presence of Hurricane Florence. We were supposed to arrive back at Baltimore harbor Thursday morning but now we're on our way to Port Canaveral Florida where we will stay overnight not returning to Baltimore now till Saturday night or Sunday. Our 5 night cruise has now turned into at least a 7 nighter. It has put a damper on are travel plans and some hunting preparations but there are far worse scenarios than spending an extra few days on a beautiful cruise ship. I will fill in the details on our return as they unfold whenever that may be.deb26248e8c2255b0c9f508e5693e915.jpgde557f4e612125c697dcc22686907bbe.jpg9fe9012217ed339916d43dee5714a1ae.jpg3663c3181de9ff3fb10c9115b9624911.jpg1b2c080fb6a0c975789fed7a12715536.jpg33d09b35a26cdd06f9e5eb7d1d9c9b83.jpgcece6d1773bf36b5b48f331647dd2153.jpgf851c2ae78321471f6ca4a2ae2d85ed7.jpgd8e9f8ae62138c9d136da60668b2a3e9.jpg6b5c9d7be73e04af3da016fabfe2c9b4.jpg

My parents went a lot, they were always trying to convince me to go.

My wife & I finally went this sunmmer for ouir 25th anniversary, went to Alaska, sailed from Seattle, round trip/inner passage, 7 days. I would have liked to taken a few days & gone to Denali also, but my wife didn't want to stay away from home that long. We decided to go with Princess, mainly because it caters to a slightly older, slightly more sober crowd than some of the lower priced lines. Just didn't want to be stuck for 7 days with a bunch of 20-somethings drinking around the clock and acting up. I set up my own fishing trip, which was cancelled the day of due to supposed boat malfunction, but I can't fault the cruise line for that.

Pros- beautiful scenery, clean boat, excellent food and all you can eat, it really was an inexpensive trip (excluding the 1 day we spent seeing the sights of Seattle-never again). We chose to eat dinner each night with different people, and most were decent folks, didn't really feel uncomfortable with anyone. Plenty to do on board, whether it was seminars, shows, TV in the cabin, hanging out reading on deck, casino, nightclubs. Service was impeccable, tips are included in the fare, so they aren't hustling tips (but they'll take them if offered).

Cons- the ship was constantly trying to sell something, whether it was art, jewelry, future cruise trips; not sure if this is just Princess, or all the cruise lines? But I will say there was no "hard sell"; if you told them no, they'd leave you alone. Day trips at the ports were a little cheesy & overpriced (whale watching, "nature tour", train into Yukon), and always crowded. All ports had 4 or 5 ships with 3,000 people stopping each day, so there really is no "off the beaten path" type of expeditions available, unless you wanted to rent a plane or helicopter for $1,000 (and most days it's too rainy to fly anyway).

If I go back to Alaska, I'd fly to Anchorage & plan my own agendas & hotels, and probably stay a couple days fishing at a lodge near Kenai. My wife is already talking about another cruise, but I think we've already done everything there is on the Alaska coast, so next time it may be New England/Canada, SE USA, or California coast. But I'd really like to try seeing Alaska on our own. We shall see.

I worked for a year when I was in the restaurant business in the Caribbean, I really have no interest in going back there.

Finally get back to Port today after are 5 night cruise turned into an 8 night cruise. We had a great time and would do it again in a heartbeat. The worst part of getting back late is I missed my nieces wedding which I really wanted to attend as my family is very close but they understood it was out of my control. To anyone thinking about a cruise in the future I highly recommend it. There's so much to see and do and EAT and they treat you like royalty. However bring your checkbook as that Royal treatment is not cheap.
