I do know a great lawyer!  Lives out in Webster.  :rolleyes:  Be a good reason to get him to come hunt with us! But we got nothing compared to what he's used to!!!

Not sure of whom you speak, but I definitely want to hunt with Grampy again!

no one told the deer it was to warm.... He came in chasing 5 doe which are walking past me on the ground at 40 yards tight now !

You know Phade, awesome deer!  Makes me sick to my stomach that you have to be hesitant on posting a deer in fear of other idiots trying to intrude and hunt a particular area.  I LOVE seeing what brutes hunters harvest or get on their cameras, the last thing I want to do is try to sneak into the area and take him.  That's why some 4 pointers are true trophy's on my 24 acres.  The enjoyment is being successful in your own situation.  Hopefully my family and I can get some food plots in and grow bigger deer but until then be content. I'd honestly rather shoot a nice 6 point on my property then try to infringe on someone else's hard work and determination to get a "Big buck", that's not rewarding at all!

im thinking you should specialize !  Moog - Hunting Lawyer.    You specialize in Hunting related occurrances and litigation.  Also would be a good TV show!  and specializing you can charge extra!

What a hunt no deer seen but a lot learned. I worked my way up along three swamps crossed over the third and took a hiking trail out. Snuck out on to a finger that went into one swamp looked great but nobody home but an owl. He’s eyes popped out of head when I tried to get a better picture.

I scouted a piece of state land this Sat. because of the high wind & rain. I didn't get 100 yds. off the road and ran into a scrape line. Not a big buck but I am not fussy during bow.

 I took the climber and went back this morning for a couple of hrs. then walked it some more. Didn't see a thing but squirrels all morning. Heading down the hill about 11:00 I catch movement to my left and spot a doe at about 50-60 yds. Right behind her were 5 more walking single file up a ridge. All six were big mature does that I would shoot any day of the week. Since I was down wind  I let them get by and walked over to see if they were following a trail and could not find any sign of one but I did find these so I picked them up, brought them home and put them in my re-cycle bin. Why people have to leave their trash in the woods is beyond me and it really pisses me off. Every year I haul stuff out of the woods that other hunters leave.

Anyway it was a nice morning and I will probably go back again because it shows some promise but nothing near what phade has found holy cow.

What a buck.. Deer like that are the reason i save up my vaca time for the rut... Phade what kind of trail cam? Browning? What model? Those nighttime pics are real nice...

Taking 1/2 vacation days this time of year works out very well for me! My stands are 15min from work. I can hunt from daylight until almost 10:00am, get to work by 10:30am, work 4hrs and head out at 2:30pm and be back in my stand ~3:00pm for an evening hunt! When the rut starts kicking in and I intend on hunting all day, then I'll start taking whole vacation days. Helps me extend my vacation and I can stay caught up at the office.

Knowing other people from near rochester they all say the same thing and have similar pics. If it wasn't suck a long ridea I would be looking for lease properties out there that's for sure!!

i've figured that out moving back to eastern NY. it's all good and relative.

so i picked up some arrows a while back that i think will fly a little better out of my primary hunting bow. managed to sight it in last night so that's good. work and house stuff keeping me busy but i'm thinking it's time to bowhunt or bust. hopefully i can make it happen where i can get out some.

I live just north of Syracuse but spend most of my hours in a tree at Letchworth and my mil in Livonia. More deer and bigger (body and racks) for the most part. Bought a house 4 years ago with 20 acres but hardly hunt it much. Maybe 3-5 sits a year. I got to move.....again

props to you. i think you deserve one then. family and home is where it is, which happens to be out this way near the eastern NY border. it was fun hunting western NY public land. Letchworth is on my list some day.

      Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike?       The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
      You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

      A Hunter's Obligation to Know the Rules

      Just want to relay an experience I had this weekend regarding hunting regulations and other hunters.
      I've had several  hunter's tell me last weekend(10/12/2020) that muzzleloader was open, it is not. I also had two other hunters last weekend confront me as to why my son was carrying around a rifle and hunting deer. I calmly explained the youth weekend and the rules around it. After that everything was cool and we continued our hunt.
      I know at the end of the day we're all trying to participate in a sport we love and maybe harvest some game. My thought is to just make sure you're up on your local hunting regulations. Not just so you are within the rules, but also so you can assert your right to be where you are, hunting the way you're hunting.
      I know when I have been operating outside of the regulations I have appreciated a person respectfully correcting my ignorance and I try to pay it forward by being informed and respectfully educating when required.

      Bolt Action with Pistol Grip

      I am in the process of purchasing my first rifle to go hunting deer for the first time.  However, I have received contradicting information regarding the types of rifles that are legal.  Based on what I have read, it appears that I am able to use a bolt-action rifle with a pistol grip and a detachable magazine which holds 10 rounds.  However, I have been told that this is not the case. I can't seem to find where this is stated.  Can any one here provide me with some insight into this? I'd really appreciate it.
