Excellent! Side note at a friends wedding I farted in bed it was a nice silent but deadly. It woke my girlfriend from a dead sleep she started gagging, sprinted to the bathroom and proceeded to puke her guts out. Pretty sure I hit peak awesomeness that night.

Well, warmed up, stomach stuffed. Going to still hunt with a “curiosity” line dragging on the way back to my climber.

Not many does around, it seems. I think three, and the rest are fawns. If yesterday’s activity is any indication, one mature doe is already wrapping up her breeding for the year, and may have that buck with her in lock down.

Finally able to upload pic of the buck I got on 11/9. Main frame 10Pt with a 1" kicker off one of his bases making him actually an 11Pt! This is the buck that I've called my #1 from trail cam videos and posted a trail cam pic of him in velvet from August.  I almost had a shot at him on 11/7, drew back bow on him on 11/7 @ 30 yards but couldn't get a clear shot before he bolted away after a doe...he was walking directly at me at about 40 yards and then was broadside at 30 yards behind a tree, of course with his head sticking out of 1 side and his back end sticking out of the other side while the doe was about 25 yards from me.  Then she bounded away taking him with her ... tried grunting and some doe bleats but to no avail, so no shot that day.  Then he came through cruising alone on 11/9 and offered a clear shot @ 28 yards!

Had one doe come in behind me as a fellow hunter was walking the long way to me. She never came through.

The best moment for me today was when I received this text from Mrs Crappy

My response was,”That’s from Turkeyfetahers!!!”
Her response was, “now I’m really worried!”

Pains me to say this, but I CHOKED this morning and missed one of the bucks that I've been after! I couldn't believe that I actually laid eyes on him for the first time, other than trailcam pics. That SOB had me shaking!! I looked over and saw him 80 yards away, just staring at my doe decoy! That's what brought him to me, as he was heading in the opposite direction! He slowly made his way to the decoy. I had it all planned out in my head when I would be drawing and shooting. When he got to 30 yards, he unexpectedly veered off the path. I wasn't sure if he was just going to circle and get downwind of the decoy or if he lost interest. I panicked, and without realizing it, just rushed the shot and didn't follow through! I launched the arrow and it took some hair off of the top of his back! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Oh well, so thankful I didn't wound or draw blood, not even a spec!

I'm fessing up! No unseen twig that deflected my arrow, NO using the wrong pin, NO ducking the arrow, NO jumping the string, NO mis-judging distance! Just plain 'ole Buck Fever I guess, after 40 years of hunting!!!  :D  It took me 44 hunts to lay eyes on him, I FINALLY get the opportunity, and I CHOKE!!!!!! :pardon:

May our paths cross again some day..... you lucky SOB!!!

Just had a hawk dive bomb a chipmunk 20 yards from my stand. I’m not mad because that chipmunk was getting annoying, but what a cool thing to see

That is pretty neat. When in canada archery bear hunting, i had a squirrel barking at me seemed forever.  So long i was trying to decide if i should waste an arrow taking care of him. All of a sudden the sky turned dark and heard a swoosh...swoosh sound. An eagle picked him right off the side of tbe tree but ended up dropping him. Never saw a bird that big. Never heard from the squirrel again either

So a quick scout and camera check indicates that the heavy snows have indeed shut down the deer for now and re-patterned their movement. There are some tracks from late last night, all heading out of heavy Hemlock stands. Deer are now bedded for the day and coming out at night. This means tree-stand hunting is out and stalking is in.

Hopefully there is a major thaw before the gun opener. Only hope is that there will be some late afternoon movement around the oaks.

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

Just want to relay an experience I had this weekend regarding hunting regulations and other hunters.
I've had several  hunter's tell me last weekend(10/12/2020) that muzzleloader was open, it is not. I also had two other hunters last weekend confront me as to why my son was carrying around a rifle and hunting deer. I calmly explained the youth weekend and the rules around it. After that everything was cool and we continued our hunt.
I know at the end of the day we're all trying to participate in a sport we love and maybe harvest some game. My thought is to just make sure you're up on your local hunting regulations. Not just so you are within the rules, but also so you can assert your right to be where you are, hunting the way you're hunting.
I know when I have been operating outside of the regulations I have appreciated a person respectfully correcting my ignorance and I try to pay it forward by being informed and respectfully educating when required.
Thanks for listening, off my SB...

      Hello,
I am in the process of purchasing my first rifle to go hunting deer for the first time.  However, I have received contradicting information regarding the types of rifles that are legal.  Based on what I have read, it appears that I am able to use a bolt-action rifle with a pistol grip and a detachable magazine which holds 10 rounds.  However, I have been told that this is not the case. I can't seem to find where this is stated.  Can any one here provide me with some insight into this? I'd really appreciate it.
      Thanks in Advanced,
      Alfredo
