Super black hawk .44 loaded , ML stuffed , car packed except guns. Looking forward to another opening day with my daughter who is getting picked up for ballet at 11 am. I’ll head back in til dark. Some big boys I’ve seen need to show up early for her. She’s pulled the trigger once on a deer and buck down. Hope it’s a trend.  Good luck to everyone in the morning. Safe driving and safe in the woods !

My wife had a 3 series xdrive. It was fun to drive but if I was by myself I always felt like I was driving a chick car. She has a new maxima now. It is terrible in the snow

Good luck too you and your hunting Buddy/the young lady is going to fill the freezer and I see a lot of cubed steaks coming your way.Also don't forget the apple pies they/ have been used to smelling them

Normally, I hunt at home on opening day.  I will probably make the 20 minute drive over to my folks place this year because I have seen considerably more deer action there over the last couple weeks including (2) nice "shooter" bucks.   I will be happy if I can make it over there without hitting a deer with my wife's mini-van on the way.   I just put new brakes on it all around, so that should help.   Hopefully the hitch receiver cargo-carrier will be loaded heavy on the drive home.   Good luck.

I have not seen any more of those over there but they are shooters for me unless they are with a larger antlerless deer.  I have enough DMP's for (3) more and i don't hand out any passes on them.   Both of the "shooters" I meant were antlered though, a big six and a big 8.  The big (8) was around last year but had a slightly smaller body then than his buddy who I killed that year.  This year his rack is bigger and his body looks bigger also.   He might have caught up with  the 43 inch chest girth his buddy had last year.  Hopefully I find out tomorrow, my tape measure is ready.

I was only teasing and assumed you meant you had a couple nice ones. I hope you tag one and fill your dmps.  I know you use every scrap of meat those deer provide for your family and there aren't alot of us on here that can say that. Good luck!

Good luck everyone tomorrow .  Hoping a safe and successful day for all. 

I'm going in the am for tradition and to help get a buddy and his son get on a deer.  

I am out by 9:30 though. Long night last night with that buck and long day of work , fighting the snow etc. 

Got the buck all ready for the taxidermist on Sunday. 

But I gave my buddies the choice of what stand they wanted and I ended up in the "opener" stand .  Lol. Which I have had shots and tagged out there a few times.  Lol

I don't need to shoot another deer but I will if I have to!

Got chains on the wheeler. That will get me to the end of the fields. A 500 yard walk, will get me to my spot. My partner went out there today, reset the collapsed hub blind for me. Said there were tracks all over. Pulled the card from the cam near there and two nice shooters! 

Doesn't mean I will see anything. But will make it easy to get out of bed tomorrow!

      Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike?       What are the best steps carry a bow on your back?

      The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
      You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

      A Hunter's Obligation to Know the Rules

      Just want to relay an experience I had this weekend regarding hunting regulations and other hunters.
      I've had several  hunter's tell me last weekend(10/12/2020) that muzzleloader was open, it is not. I also had two other hunters last weekend confront me as to why my son was carrying around a rifle and hunting deer. I calmly explained the youth weekend and the rules around it. After that everything was cool and we continued our hunt.
      I know at the end of the day we're all trying to participate in a sport we love and maybe harvest some game. My thought is to just make sure you're up on your local hunting regulations. Not just so you are within the rules, but also so you can assert your right to be where you are, hunting the way you're hunting.
      I know when I have been operating outside of the regulations I have appreciated a person respectfully correcting my ignorance and I try to pay it forward by being informed and respectfully educating when required.

      Bolt Action with Pistol Grip

      I am in the process of purchasing my first rifle to go hunting deer for the first time.  However, I have received contradicting information regarding the types of rifles that are legal.  Based on what I have read, it appears that I am able to use a bolt-action rifle with a pistol grip and a detachable magazine which holds 10 rounds.  However, I have been told that this is not the case. I can't seem to find where this is stated.  Can any one here provide me with some insight into this? I'd really appreciate it.
