Squat tonight...conditions were too perfect!!!
I did have this mountain lion kitten stop by. Pretty cool find alone- usually squatch has them leashed this time of year.

Had a good morning today.........a doe and two fawns came i n and hung around for ten minutes right around sunrise.  They were on a finger ridge between a couple small gullies and there was no way they could/should wind me.  All of a sudden one of the fawns got nervous and started looking right at me, 90 yards away.  Then the doe got wondering WTH and started to walk up the hill away from me.  For a second I couldn't sort things out as I surely didn't want to cork a fawn.  I put the scope on one and new darned sure she was the one I wanted as I saw a big deep chest.  I took the shot and she and the fawns ran the right direction. :)

I went up and gutted her but left the my phone i n my coat pocket back at the stand.......went back to the stand and sat till 9am, hoping a coyote would come mooching along or another good doe.  Neither did.

I put her on the scale and she went 133lbs, quite a nice doe!

A great way to close out the rifle season.  BTW, I used my .260 Remington for the first time since having it built 6-8 years ago.

I'm glad the ice was mostly "hard" They were over a mile to the rd.. there was a beaver flow/ creek all the way to the rd..

My deer hunting season has come to an end. I could always do a late season bow hunt but I just don’t see that happening one of these years I’ll get a muzzle loader.

From October 1st to December 9th I saw tons off deer but never drew back on the bow and only fired my gun once. That one time just happened to be on a buck of a life time!

I truly wish I took more deer for various reasons and feel a bit disappointed in the season but I have to keep reminding myself how fortunate I am to have taken even one as many friends and forum members did not harvest any.

I can’t wait to see my buck up on the wall and have a laundry list of things I want to learn and do to make next season even more fun.

I didn't bow hunt this morning, but I did get a pic of one of my target bucks hitting a scrape. A big 8 that I haven't seen since October 19 decided to show up at almost 8:30. I was very glad to see that he's still around. I'm sure that he was very busy for the last couple of weeks.

I would have loved to hunt the same scrape this evening but the wind just wasn't right. I hunted a new tree just off a green field. I saw plenty of deer as they filtered out to the field. I even had a good 8 point chasing a doe back and forth for about an 30 minutes.

Just at last light, I got another pic from my cam that is overlooking a hot scrape. This time it was my other target buck. A really nice 9 point that I haven't seen since November 16. I have no regrets about not hunting that spot this evening as I knew the wind wasn't right for it. It seems as though we are well into the second rut as big buck activity has picked right up again.

Well tonight was just awesome..

i had this 8 at 50 yards and again out of the brush at 80 stopped with grunts and doe bleet can looking and interested but wouldn’t commit...

Missed a nice 7 point a half hour later and passed a spike ,, I had to watch the 7 to long wind was not in my favor and he was on to the game and I miss judged the yardage and shot right under him..

Great day today!  My hunting partner and I were looking to top off the freezers with a nice round doe. So we did some loops to each other, and each saw a decent buck! No doe's.

Took a ride to Berne, for an afternoon coffee, and ran into biggamefish and his beautiful little girl. Had a nice little chat, and went back for one more little push.

Decided to push the thick nasties along the creek bottom, behind the barn. I put Gary on the end, down by the big food plot. I got down in the thick stuff, bordered by some swamp grass, went about 75 yards and jumped the big nine I'd seen a few times during bow season!!! He jumped the creek, ran up the side hill and stopped in an opening, about 80 yards away and looked back at me. Almost, as if to say "see ya next year grampy"? As we looked at each other, I just nodded, and softly said,....."yup, see ya next year". Finished the little drive, again no doe to Gary, and legal time had come to close the season.

Driving home, in the field, just above the farm at last light, stood nine doe!!

May dust off the ML for next weekend, weather permitting.

But it's been a good season, where we each took an eight point under real tough conditions. Shared a lot of laughs. And learned a bunch this year! It doesn't get much better than that.

Dr,s appointment in the morning. Hoping that goes as well as my season!

Hunted my dad's place mid day with a doe tag. Right off the bat had a small 6 in the field, went up the hill a ways and had a spike on the ridge, then saw a doe with a fawn 125 yards out, but passed as I was really out for a walk on a beautiful day, then I dropped down low heading back towards the truck, caught movement 80-90 yards out, it was a big buck that I haven't has on cam since October! One of the drop tines I have dreams about lol. I watched him get up stare back at me and slowly walk off. Awesome encounter that would have ended differently if it was 24 hours later. Good job on the deer everyone! It's been a good season.

Please. When you find one with 120 inches then feel free to include me. Flathead's in December is like a button buck in October. No Challenge!

In all fairness, I would like to see the plural version be "bozin". Just seems right

This evening I spent my last night of regular season with a few ladies. Had this fawn jump up on a big pile of brush from the bulldozer. Crazy little gal must have taken a taste for something up there. On to the front stuffer!

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

Just want to relay an experience I had this weekend regarding hunting regulations and other hunters.
I've had several  hunter's tell me last weekend(10/12/2020) that muzzleloader was open, it is not. I also had two other hunters last weekend confront me as to why my son was carrying around a rifle and hunting deer. I calmly explained the youth weekend and the rules around it. After that everything was cool and we continued our hunt.
I know at the end of the day we're all trying to participate in a sport we love and maybe harvest some game. My thought is to just make sure you're up on your local hunting regulations. Not just so you are within the rules, but also so you can assert your right to be where you are, hunting the way you're hunting.
I know when I have been operating outside of the regulations I have appreciated a person respectfully correcting my ignorance and I try to pay it forward by being informed and respectfully educating when required.
Thanks for listening, off my SB...

      Hello,
I am in the process of purchasing my first rifle to go hunting deer for the first time.  However, I have received contradicting information regarding the types of rifles that are legal.  Based on what I have read, it appears that I am able to use a bolt-action rifle with a pistol grip and a detachable magazine which holds 10 rounds.  However, I have been told that this is not the case. I can't seem to find where this is stated.  Can any one here provide me with some insight into this? I'd really appreciate it.
      Thanks in Advanced,
      Alfredo
