Did a sit this morning because I wanted to do a camera pull. Pretty windy and I didn't see a thing. Not surprising since they rough plowed the field. My View this morning:

Pulled the camera and it shows there are still a few around but no horns:

Woot looking around 120" from my view, way to go guys looks like the deer are moving!

I'm trying a new method today, my wife just landed back in the states...our anniversary was Wednesday.

I got this doe bait, hoping mine is hot and can't resist...

Hopefully I score and at the same time free myself from any other weekend obligations that might interfere with hunting...conditions are right, I like my odds!

Out in 3g before work this AM. Cold and light but swirling wind. Around 8 two nice does started a slow feed in towards me. Was waiting to see if a 6 that had been hanging with them joined them for breakfast. No sight of him. They fed to about 60 and ducked behind a fallen oak. Lost them in the brush. Gave them 30 minutes and was convinced they had disappeared into thin air.

Get up to go to leave and go to work. Take three steps on the leaves and two flags bound off for the distance. Oh well, had to pay the bills so no choice. Great morning regardless.

Pulled cams last night. Have a few bucks returning to the property and checking out the does. One nice 9 is back but he is still staying solo and nocturnal.

Might hit public tonight if I can get out early enough. Good luck to all.

Sometime the energy in the letdown from the initial draw is enough to pop the nock loose of the string.

Alternatively nocks do wear out over time but it can take a pretty long time...I use really tight nocks just to be sure.

The arrow wouldn't even go with the string when he drew it back.  It just stayed in the biscuit.

Just got back home sat til 11 never saw a deer.  2 yotes, 4 squirrels and a tick on my sleeve.

The yotes were crazy.  Got in on a field edge on the second step of stand and two come trotting by at 12 yards and looking right at where I just went in.  I scooted up the ladder quick and they ran across the field.  I felt like I was being hunted.

This was my view this morn.  But never a deer in it.  I was pretty juiced about this am.  Hope the pm is better. Beautiful morning though.

Whatever it takes to motivate you biz. At this point I would be very happy with a doe harvest myself. Of course i wouldn't pass up a decent buck. Hope the harvest thread will light up this weekend...

Like BGF said they should be snug...I have a narrower diameter arrow so my nocks are typically smaller in general and they are snug to the point where the arrow can come off the rest and slowly swing out to nearly perpendicular with the bow at which time it typically will fall off the string.

Thanks. I never heard of this happening and he just couldn't figure it out.  He had a nocturnal I gave him , the rest of his regular arrows worked fine.  But unfortunately he found this out while drawing on a deer.  I've never had any issues with nock size.   I guess I thought they were all about the same.

Well it sounds like he was lucky he didn't fire it, possibly could have resulted in an errant shot or possibly a dry fire if it came loose prior to release.

Live and learn and then mess up again that's how I do it.

I’ve seen shops use a small piece of plastic shopping bags to snug that fit. Put bag over arrow shaft, insert nick, rip off bag and burn away any loose bag parts hanging out. Worth a shot in a pinch

Another trick is to heat them up with boiling water and pinch them to make them tighter. If they are to tight you can spread them out he same way or take a light sand paper and take a little off at a time until they fit right. I don't know what the water would do to a light up knock though.

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

Just want to relay an experience I had this weekend regarding hunting regulations and other hunters.
I've had several  hunter's tell me last weekend(10/12/2020) that muzzleloader was open, it is not. I also had two other hunters last weekend confront me as to why my son was carrying around a rifle and hunting deer. I calmly explained the youth weekend and the rules around it. After that everything was cool and we continued our hunt.
I know at the end of the day we're all trying to participate in a sport we love and maybe harvest some game. My thought is to just make sure you're up on your local hunting regulations. Not just so you are within the rules, but also so you can assert your right to be where you are, hunting the way you're hunting.
I know when I have been operating outside of the regulations I have appreciated a person respectfully correcting my ignorance and I try to pay it forward by being informed and respectfully educating when required.
Thanks for listening, off my SB...

      Hello,
I am in the process of purchasing my first rifle to go hunting deer for the first time.  However, I have received contradicting information regarding the types of rifles that are legal.  Based on what I have read, it appears that I am able to use a bolt-action rifle with a pistol grip and a detachable magazine which holds 10 rounds.  However, I have been told that this is not the case. I can't seem to find where this is stated.  Can any one here provide me with some insight into this? I'd really appreciate it.
      Thanks in Advanced,
      Alfredo
