Nice Rob!

My last sit will be Sat.  Wouldn't mind one more doe.  Losing one to yotes and giving a lot of meat away from the other 3 to those that asked or I knew needed it, I really would like a bit more in the freezer.

Heck didn’t know I could just ask ! All those early mornings and cold sits for nothing ! Plus about 1,500 miles on the truck .

Last week of archery, I have wanted to kill a buck with my dads Xbow and it was a fun hunt still hunting. I like being in the woods and like having a tag in my pocket so for me to shoot a buck early in the season it’s gotta be a giant.

I meant to ask Hockey this question. Sorry for the confusion. But i guess you also passed 10pts and shot a 5pt?

ok so here is the update. the liver is being sliced right now, going in the dehydrator for the dogs.Or anyone brave enough to try it. The buck stepped out about 75 yards. He did the leg spread and fed . He stood up took a couple steps and did the leg spread and fed again. I couldn't take it That was a pose I just couldn't pass on. Nailed him. he wiggled for about 4 seconds, then stillness. I didn't even reload. I called the wife and told her the good news. I collected my gear and walked over to see what i got. I had no idea what kind of buck it really was. You see for the most part I just see snacks and not horns. I was quite surprised. Big 8 point.

So, to paraphrase, it twice spread its legs and bent over, at which time you couldn't take it anymore and nailed it. It wiggled for 4 seconds and then went still. You didn't reload. You then called your wife with the good news. OK, maybe it's just me . . . .

Congrats on a great buck!

I remember seeing some big deer thru the years and most of the biggest haven't been while I was hunting. Usually while driving somewhere. Tonite I sure wish I could've gotten a shot at the monster I saw.  It was def more than a 10 point without question and I am thinking mainframe 12.  With high tines all along to boot. Very happy to have gotten another deer but if I sealed the deal on that one wow.  Looked like something from Kansas. Just stunning to see one like that while hunting and within shooting range.  Biggest deer I have ever seen anywhere.

Gonna have to hope for next year cause I don't dare take a 4th deer from this spot. Lol.

Thanks all for the congrats, been a great season.

Good story to boot tonite. - muzzleloader harvest thread.

Congrats on the late season deer to all!

But, why is no one out with a bow? I was out this AM, and let me tell you it was FKN cold! Sorry, no pics or vids.

I have two Dr.s appointments tomorrow, so no hunting.

I want to get out Friday for my last deer hunt of the season. If I get out it will be with my bow.

Lets go people! We have a few days left! Lets get out there with those bows! Your not filling a tag sitting on the couch, and sure as hell aren't filling a tag being obsessed by the political section!

Had no shot at the 10 point. He was 60 yards out, I wound up shooting that half rack on the property. I did however pass up a mess of 2.5 year old 6 and 8 points and took the 5 with no brows. That property tends to get a lot of deer with no brow tines so I decided to take him.

Had a pretty exciting night on a cut corn field. My buddy hunted it last night and missed a doe so I was a little worried they’d be skittish today but I lucked out. I had 15 deer feeding within ten yards of me which is probably the closest I’ve ever been and I was sitting in tall brushy shit by a power line so definitely cool to experience that. I wanted to shoot one of those deer but was surrounded and no way to move. Long story short, several does end up behind brush where my wind was going and bust me but run back in front of me to another group of does maybe 150 yards away. I’m pretty sure there was a buck in the woods watching these does so I was tempted to wait but a few deer started to run back in the woods and I figured i might as well shoot one. By the time I reloaded there was only one deer left in the field 215 yards away. She looked a little small but I have a lot of mouths to feed and farmers to keep happy so I settle the crosshairs and fired away. Good blood trails on both deer, recovered first within 70 yards and second within 150. One doe is the largest I’ve ever shot and the other is definitely the smallest lol, it’s much harder to judge their size when alone. Gave them both to two buddies that need it more than myself but I took the heart, tongue and tenderloin as my bounty.

That’s 6 does for me and 1 buck this season. I have a buck tag left and one more doe tag that was co signed so hoping to punch both over the next few days.

Sooooo....I have a load in the loader that I have to shoot off.  Have to drive to lease to shoot it , so might as well take a walk this morning.  Never know.

Thinking i am gonna take yesterday s deer to processor.  I always do my own, but most of this one will be giving away and really ok with skipping this for once.  Haven't decided yet but leaning that way .  Haven't taken one to a processor in a long time but hearing good things about a couple local ones.

Two years ago today started off like every other day of hunting with my dad, brother and I. The three of us sitting at mom and dads dining room table for an hour before we had to head to the woods having coffee and breakfast. My dad and I arguing because he made the coffee to weak and where we were going to sit, where to sit my brother and what drive to make first and in what direction. The night before was like so many other nights for our family, my wife at the time, my daughter my brother and sister-in-law and I all had dinner at mom and dads and we spent most of the night picking on each other about something or other and talking about the next days hunt.

That morning I sat exactly where I’m sitting right now and was planning on doing the first push to my dad and brother. Little did I know that would be the last drive I would ever do for my dad. Dad killed a doe that morning then as many of you know suffered heart failure and died on top of his last deer just after he finished gutting it. My brother and I were on either side of him when it happened.

They say that time heals everything and that’s not true, I miss the old man more today than I did the day he died. He was the greatest father, “papa” husband and man that I have ever known.

I love you old man!

Hello to all my fellow bow hunters! Here's a question for you, if you had the chance to hunt and win $50,000, would you do it? Well your chance has come! It's the Bone Collector North American Whitetail Championship! The biggest and most exciting deer hunting tournament that's ever hit the whitetail woods! Here's how it works, throughout the USA and Canada, there's 14 different regions, New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey would be considered as Region 1, the bow hunter that harvests the largest P&Y scoring buck in he or she's region will qualify for a championship hunt in the land of Giants, (KANSAS) at Wicked Outfitters for a chance to win $50,000!!  You may ask, is there an entry fee? You will also have your name put in for hunt give away drawings and product give a ways! How cool is that!? You might be thinking to yourself, I don't have a big enough buck to hunt that i can win anything with. NOT the case, if you harvest a buck and enter it into the tournament, you will be put in for another drawing for the Kansas HUNT! How do you sign up? Simply go to www.nawtc.com fill out the entry form that's required for you to sign up, and your ready to go! Maybe im jumpin the gun a bit quick but.....
As the 2019 deer season is coming fast and the live from the woods thread is going to light up like a christmas tree(better train this kid at work fast so i can follow up on all the deer porn)...The quickly approaching season has got new topics popping up and me getting antsy sooo......
Is there anyone with a new approach to this years season different from the past?
      Different preparations for the season,etc.
Accomplishment's/goals you are shooting for in the 2019 season?
      Shorter/longer sits etc.

      A few of mine..
1.Prep by shooting as much as possible
2.Spend as much time as i can in my "happy place"(always been my peaceful place)
3.Get my first mount done so i can hang it on the wall at the first house(bare spot!)
4.Get neccessary equipment for processing my own deer in the garage(needs a good cleanin before opening day!!)
5.See the smile on Jay's(turkeyfeathers) face with his first bow harvest!!!!
6.Be blessed and thankful to be able to spend time in the great outdoors.cherish every moment of the woods coming alive at day break(g/f doesnt understand it!!!)<<but im ok with that
This year has flew by and season will be here before we know it.This post is a bit early but im pumped and ready for some woods time!!!!
