Sitting in 7F thick stuff.   Season winding down.  Just glad to say I was able to get out this year.

Was a great year.  I’m still here and hunting when a year ago that couldn’t be a given.

Enjoyed a bow hunt in Kansas that messed up my NY hunting for a couple weeks.  Hunted hard last weekend and back at it again today and tomorrow.

I firmly believe that once we muddle through the nonsense our biggest issue is access.  Finding quality hunting properties is very difficult.  And expensive

My hunting partner just told me of an elderly neighbor who doesn't have enough firewood. So instead of hunting with our smoke poles, we will be cutting firewood off the farm this weekend instead.

Well calling it.  Walked all the usual places and a few that aren’t typical.   Not a deer pushed up.  I think they and I need a 10 month rest.

Merry Christmas all!    On to squirrels and yotes.

This season is the worst for me,i wounded another deer yesterday. When it rains it pours.

Tracked it over three different properties until i got to one i can't track on. I jumped her once,no shot.

Worst season ever, aside from my first where i got nothing, but at least i didn't hurt anything besides my ego either then.

I might go out Monday or Tuesday,or maybe quit while i am behind.

Mistakes happen bud. If you have wounded 2, and it is not your zero, odds are your next opportunity will net a clean kill!

Haven't been out in 10 days. Was planning on going out this afternoon and tomorrow morning but hemming and hawing about it trying to get motivated. Then I let the dog out, and I hear that they're finally cutting the corn in the field that the wooded part of my property wraps around on two sides. I'm suddenly motivated!!

Would rather miss and eat tag soup or get no shots at all than wound. As far as ranking bad seasons go anyhow.

Sounds like you did your best to recover and that’s all that really counts in my book.

Same guy has shot 4x starting st 7:16.  Sounds like feeding single rounds into a slug gun

Bout the same here. Two shots on the property line.  Took a walk to see if someone on lease but never saw anyone.  Neighbors are hunting on both sides.  Hard to tell where a one lone shot is exactly.  But def muzzleloader and then a follow shot 10 min later. One neighbor hunts his back yard in a tower on the property line. Think it was him.

Maybe go back out this pm. Not sure. Not as motivated but will miss it by next weekend.

Just a disaster of a morning! Up at 4:30 and get geared up drive 50 minutes to the island. Flip the river is flooded and can’t drive in. Did not expect that. Takes an hour to drive around other bridge..... f that next spot is Tully also an hour. So pull in to there at a crisp 7:50 am

No sense sitting so trying to work up a deer now
Still some snow here.

Hello to all my fellow bow hunters! Here's a question for you, if you had the chance to hunt and win $50,000, would you do it? Well your chance has come! It's the Bone Collector North American Whitetail Championship! The biggest and most exciting deer hunting tournament that's ever hit the whitetail woods! Here's how it works, throughout the USA and Canada, there's 14 different regions, New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey would be considered as Region 1, the bow hunter that harvests the largest P&Y scoring buck in he or she's region will qualify for a championship hunt in the land of Giants, (KANSAS) at Wicked Outfitters for a chance to win $50,000!!  You may ask, is there an entry fee? Yes, there is a $300 entry fee, but here's the cool part, when you sign up, the crew at the championship will send you a gear package in the mail with over $400 worth of hunting gear! You will also have your name put in for hunt give away drawings and product give a ways! How cool is that!? You might be thinking to yourself, I don't have a big enough buck to hunt that i can win anything with. NOT the case, if you harvest a buck and enter it into the tournament, you will be put in for another drawing for the Kansas HUNT! How do you sign up? Simply go to www.nawtc.com fill out the entry form that's required for you to sign up, and your ready to go! When your filling out the entry form, you will see where it says referral, type in our email address crossovertheriveroutdoors@gmail.com to let the guys at the championship know that your signing up through us! Maybe im jumpin the gun a bit quick but.....
As the 2019 deer season is coming fast and the live from the woods thread is going to light up like a christmas tree(better train this kid at work fast so i can follow up on all the deer porn)...The quickly approaching season has got new topics popping up and me getting antsy sooo......
Is there anyone with a new approach to this years season different from the past?
      Different preparations for the season,etc.
Accomplishment's/goals you are shooting for in the 2019 season?
      Shorter/longer sits etc.

      A few of mine..
1.Prep by shooting as much as possible
2.Spend as much time as i can in my "happy place"(always been my peaceful place)
3.Get my first mount done so i can hang it on the wall at the first house(bare spot!)
4.Get neccessary equipment for processing my own deer in the garage(needs a good cleanin before opening day!!)
5.See the smile on Jay's(turkeyfeathers) face with his first bow harvest!!!!
6.Be blessed and thankful to be able to spend time in the great outdoors.cherish every moment of the woods coming alive at day break(g/f doesnt understand it!!!)<<but im ok with that
This year has flew by and season will be here before we know it.This post is a bit early but im pumped and ready for some woods time!!!!
