Venison stew or goulash (stew with noodles) and biscuits for dinner. Spicy venison sausage and eggs in the morning with a pile of homefries. Fire in the belly to start the day. Bring TP.

I really miss the traditions of deer camp. Easily my fondest life memories. Even the horrendous farts that guys would manage to come up with were tolerable under the circumstances. ;-) Lots of laughs, hugs, and back-clapping.

Each guy at camp is in charge of dinner on separate days I'm either doing a venison stew or some pork loins on my day. Another guy is doing venison meatball bombers and not sure what the other guys are cooking.

We do the same at my club/camp. I usually make beef short ribs one night. For my second night I make breaded chicken cutlets with peas and rice , and a gravy of one can cream of chicken and two cans of cream of mushroom combined. Others make veal cutlet parm, stew, Sauerbraten, Roast beef, BBQ venison, baked 1/2 chickens.....Plus there's always a big Crappie fish fry Friday before opener.

We sure don't starve.

Deer camp is for me is at home.  Breakfast will likely be smiley face pancakes.  Lunch will consist of some PB&J sandwiches with the crust cut off, paw patrol cheese sticks and fruit snacks.  And for dinner, maybe we'll go all out with chicken nuggets and tater tots.

We really aren't set on any particular menu item but there will be game dishes, usually venison. I will say that there is one mandatory tradition for me and that is in memory of my Dad becasue we always did it together and that is bologna sandwiches on watch with sharp cheese and hot mustard. Some our past dishes are Venison Fajitas, venison or bear stew, goulash, marinated and grilled backstrap, venison empinadas, stroganoff, and we always have a make your own pizza night.

When I used to go to a camp in Steuben county in the mid-late 90's as a teen we always had a big venison hind quarter smoked up Saturday night before the Monday opener, lots of beers and Black Velvet were consumed by the older guys and usually a lot of cards being played. The following day most everybody took it easy to get ready to go out Monday morning. Man it was fun!

Dont do much now. Wife always makes me chili. But used to go to my cousins camp when i was a teen and everyone brought bacon venison onions peppers and through it on a massive stove top ran by a wood fire.  Tossed it on a sub roll with a side of beans and some chips. Still can remember that taste. Always got a kick out of my older relatives letting loose without there wives to keep track of them.
