I see that there are lots of victims of commercialism here.  Christmas need not be all about spending ridiculous amounts of money on each other.  My Christmas gift to my wife is to wish her lots of health and happiness and that's all I want in return.  The things we really need we can buy anytime of the year.

Yeah huh?

I am known to say qoute on quote that Christmas should be exactly the same as Thanksgiving but with a Christmas tree in the background....I cannot stand doing gifts.  My dad, always says no gifts, yet he gets me a little something anyway, I then feel bad.  My girlfriend does not have her dad around this year for the holodays, so if I can just take her mind off of that on the holiday itself, then thats what I am going to do.  There are other reasons than commercialism to gift giving.

Our family wishes each other health, etc everyday of the year, not just Christmas.  Thats like only flying a flag on 4th of July, and not year round.

Shortly after we were married, my wife and I stopped at a buddy's house, and he had a red fox mounted in the seated position, with its tail wrapped around front and a rabbit or something in its mouth.  She thought that was really cool and asked me to get her one.   It has taken quite a while, but look what showed up tonight, 5 minutes before the end of legal daylight.   My brother-in-law volunteered a bantee rooster for it's mouth.   This will probably be the best Christmas ever for her, with a freezer full of venison, topped off by this pretty red.

We have been together for going on 28 yrs, so we both have pretty much all of what we want. Since our boys have moved out it’s more about having a good time with good food and enjoying their time on the holidays. If we want somthing we just buy it , so really it’s christmas all year.

Has nothing to do with commercialism. But it does give me a chance to show she is appreciated.  She loves Xmas and works hard to provide for her kids.  And for her to have no gifts just wouldn't be right , at least in my book. I try to do something for her as she does so much for others you couldn't even imagine.  And it doesn't have to be expensive just something to make her day.  Not a thing wrong with that.

If you can get that done by Christmas I'd like contact info for your taxidermist.

So far, a set of pearl earings, a fancy watch that she has been wanting, a UA pullover thingy with loose collar and a small bottle of her favorite purfume. My DIL helped me out.

I am finally going to start hand loading this winter! I needed a better scale and case trimmer. They came today, but can't have them till Christmas. I now have everything I need and more, to make up my own rounds.

For so many years, we did not exchange gifts. Always took care of kids, grandkids and other obligations. Since my medical issues last year, my wife says we should spoil each other a little more. I agree.

Told my wife no gifts but got her a panini maker, perfume and cash.   She wanted them.   Not sure why cash as we have one account anyways and she buys what she wants within reason but whatever.

Ha, we’ve always had separate checking ,savings and investment accounts ,I’ve been thinking of combing now that I’ve accumulated a good supply of cash in the gun safe she doesnt know about .

30 years she’s never seen my accounts .

Trackhawk?    I want one.

No.  We're both don't like all the bells and whistles.  Her last Jeep was a Cherokee limited 75th anniversary addition.  Had a full length sunroof.  I think in 3 yrs we opened it 5 times.  Had nav too. Used it once, lol.  We paid for those options we never used.

Her new Grand Cherokee is a Larado. The only options she wanted were cold weather package, which includes heated seats and steering wheel, and remote start. She also wanted the auto lift gate.

I searched for weeks looking for one that wasn't loaded to the gills.  Finally a local dealer call me with and one had just come in with what she wanted.

Went and dickered on the trade-in and sticker on new one without her knowing.

She thought we were going out to dinner for my birthday, but Instead I pulled into the parking lot.  She knew right away what I did.  At first she wasn't happy, but obviously, that didn't last long.  Lol.

Your wife must know mine.  One bank account. Nothing hidden.  But she loves her cash.   It's not like I limit her spending.  Heck, she makes more than me... Lol
