Al Bundy
Great stuff!! I wish I had a crick to jump in the mornings before work. What a great setup. Jumping them is a challenge. Agreed on the flushing part above. This is why when I used to jump I was always at the ready. Movement out of the ordinary triggers the reaction of shouldering the gun. Bends in the crick are often good places. You can somewhat stealthily round a corner and be very ready. They cant see you coming and you are often on top of them at this point. After jumping the crick a bunch of times, you should get a feel for where they tend to land or at least places you think are better than others. Approach these spots slowly and carefully and be at the ready. Walking a crick with a snow cover on the ground in January is a beautiful thing. Good luck this weekend everybody. I'm heading out in the morning then again sun morning. Big water decoying. I usually get mallards coming in but this year very few. Luckily 2 blacks limit as I see more of those than anything usually. Hopefully l'll start shooting straight this weekend!!
virgil
I'm leaving work in a few hours and I'll be out in the kayak later this afternoon on a local harbor on the north shore of Long Island.

Paula
I have been out once, it was pretty windy other day so maybe that is why nothing came in. My friends son took me, he started bird hunting 2 yrs ago. He is pretty excited over it. Hoping I can get out at least one more time

BigVal
Got out of work and hauled over to a spot in Clarence I've neglected, got there and remembered why I neglected it but did notice a good number of mallards in the corn across the road Edited January 4, 2019 by BigVal
moog5050
I was driving to work today and there is a beautiful house with a manicured creek that runs through the front lawn. Absolutely loaded with ducks. Was going to post a pic but too late as traffic was moving. Tough place to fire a gun though. lol Corner of whalen and 5 mile line rd if any of you want to "sneak in". lol

Microwave ovens were just becoming common, and my wife and I had just bought our first one...There was a recipe in the booklet that came with it for roast duck...Like a damn fool, I tried the recipe with that canvasback...Turned out like a big chunk of duck jerky....I never have completely forgiven myself, and someday if I shoot myself, that will probably be the reason...Never had another chance to cook a cannie….<<sigh>>…. You'll get another chance! Gotta be positive, my goal for next season is to zero in on more cans and add more can decoys to the arsenal. They're fascinating birds imo. That and add some better spots for malards. The weather is looking cold for end of the week maybe I'll be sick

I like hunting the lake and would have been out there most likely is there boat was going good, don't like taking chances on the big water when it's cold. The lake makes for some fun hunting
sodfather
Got the pleasure to hunt with Reeltime and Tacs this morning seen literally thousands of birds just outside of out range. Had one hen GE make the mistake and she felt the wrath of All 3 of us. A cold boat ride back with the waves of the Might O kissing us in the face back to the dock. A big thanks to Lee i had a good time and picked up on a couple of tricks to boot... 4
