Did my token turkey hunt. No gobbles even at distance. Tried both sides of the property. Turkeys not too prevelent here for sure but see one on occasion. If I put Bill type of time in might score one but just not a big turkey guy unless I have action.

Found a spot to put up a new stand though. Breakfast and a walk with Charlie won out. d6ea257da1b0962f29765f7ce02aaf51.jpg59eca86d3b1a53996c3f53dce7cdec65.jpg

Spent 4 hours cutting brush. One more trip and this stand should be set. Tired of having to hand cut all the brush so I am cutting it so I can get the brush hog in there and keep it cut down. More work now for less work later. One of Corey's apple trees he planted last year is budding out nice. Productive day on the land. Can see the deer already in there under the apple tree I cleared out. Can see our 9ft stand in the first pic. Still tucked in there but can get more shots now. 8e4c29675f9e38ded692ebb5412a9df2.jpgb1361b4c0445bb792ac438d8419c3c60.jpg7607eeb66afed8175b85530dee18e2bd.jpg22620ce28b9332742995d39182de34d6.jpg

Def is. I enjoy it too. Still lots to do this spring. Corey is still healing up so trying to get as much done as possible. We are planning on a lot of food plot work and see how it goes too and if we want to invest further time and equipment into it .

What a great morn on the lake. It's amazing how much you can miss this all winter. Didn't knock em dead by any means but we got a couple. Other boats coming in and saying it's a slow bite too. But beautiful day off for sure. 1ec68da44f2fad324ffe4b10c9ba2472.jpg0bd3a81b717436d68b65afe0d380c099.jpg

A little more cutting today. Was pretty humid and had saw issues (of my own doing), so didn't get it all done in this spot. Gonna try to finish it tomorrow. But more done. Gotta get out next weekend to open the drain more.

A day off and some more work at the land. Finished this major cutting project. Prob it for big brush cutting this year. Got behind between having COVID and a big house project. Next weekend have to open up the drain more, then first weekend in June first cut on all the trails. Then end of July start food plots. Maybe work on some stands in between but pretty booked up. 51174ed2c16021c274a78714c8522b28.jpg

Its a white perch. Very common in Oneida and def good to eat. We hardly got a panfish today.

Spent about an hour and a half digging out the drain on the big pond after work. Water is draining nice so we should have no problem getting around the trails now.

This is the pond we also plan on duck hunting this year. And this trail was completely flooded last fall and this spring. ab21142fa572d2162d5af9f8c739972c.jpg8580895cdb8abb3322130d60a1445f44.jpg

Looks good.  That should fill up with woodies and black dux and teal this fall.  Can’t wait to see the pics.

the plan is to start Duck/Goose hunting Dec 4th.  In our region Duck and Goose overlap seasons for 2 days on the 4th and 5th.  Hopefully by then Corey and I each have a deer in the freezer and can move to waterfowl.  And hopefully the pond isnt froze over.  Tired of sitting in the late gun season and never see a deer but have ducks and geese flying over my head all day.  All I really need is one early season freezer filler and then hopefully play for a buck after thru archery, crossbow and gun season til the 4th.

strike that - loooks like goose season changed a bit from last year. But looks like duck opens Dec 3rd.  more research needed.

Looks like they dropped the 4th and 5th of Dec from 2021.  That sucks.  Guess its duck only!

Figured this could be one of the last cool days like this and the lake is a wave mess. So went out to the land with Corey and we got a new stand up. 9ft on the field edge that we hope to plant this summer.

Stand went up easy once we got it going. First stand we took out must've gotten water in it and.froze over the winter and it was split. So had to trade out for another. But it's in and looking forward to some hunts here.

Also I got another stand in a spot and trail cleaned out but stopped cause the tree was covered in ivy and I'm just getting over it from last time.

Fishing tomorrow! 997cad68cfd633342078afd4d3944dbf.jpgdf180398e754feb680e48779322b7bbe.jpg13ec910b7eb1094c341e483e67080af8.jpg6a4910252cfb257567506d8ca027860c.jpgdea8de4eb40e1440fb6d96562e7d69ae.jpg
