Federally as well as Statewide here in NY. They cannot and do not agree on anything. They have not put up a strong, viable candidate against Cuomo in the last two elections. While the Democrats and Socialists, have circled the wagons with an all for one, and one for all mindset. I have lost my faith in the politics of ANY party. The swamp keeps expanding, with more and more career politicians. Who could care 'doodly squat' for the people they supposedly "represent". And care far more about funding their next election campaign. Selling themselves like whores to the highest bidders. I'll continue to use my vote, to do my part. But it seems like I'm drowning in swamp water. and i couldnt agree more - i have even given up voting - cause the numbers just dont match up - 19.8 million people in NY - 8.6 in NYC, 7.5 in Long Island, 1.0 in Westchester = upstates vote means nothing. We can elect a rep in our area and they will have no say. Vote for president and our electoral votes will go as NYC goes. You could add all the other gov candidates together and double them and Cuomo still wins. Lets face it majority rules and elects. And that is the way of the land and i can accept that if thats what the people want even if I disagree with them on issues. But i would rather spend that tues hunting than pissing in the wind at the firehouse voting these days . Its frustrating but it is the way things were setup to work i guess. ADK Native
The Democrats in Albany are getting a lot of NOTHING done as usual. New York still has high taxes, high crime, generous welfare to enable the lazy, an opioid crisis, a failed mental health system keeping the violent mentally ill loose in public, a failed corrections system that is not keeping violent sociopaths (ex. William Spengler) locked up for life, failed schools and the list goes on.....................so what have the Democrats in power accomplished to lix those REAL problems in New York? Nothing! Also the Democrats call what is really "gun control" by the new politically correct title of "gun safety measures". This is because the Democrats are unwilling or unable to accept the true facts about the root causes of gun violence.

dbHunterNY
in todays society you need the popular vote. you could have intent and a plan to give the world back to those you represent but if they don't know you everything is hearsay. you're left with the popular vote to rely on and you don't have it. pandering to a base thats far extreme to either side doesn't work. people don't have to like a politicians decision anymore, they just have to say it has logic and makes sense. they're too chicken sh*t though to brave the follow out and grow stronger. this happens in history when standout candidates that are moderate breach a divide and provide resolve in the eyes of voters. if you look at history we're due for a hard swing one way or another but there's no stand out candidate yet to do that. they need the popularity first with known stances and then have people back them for a run. in NY things will get a lot worse before we see a shift in power toward the better (for governor) versus at the federal level (president). Sounds like they have gotten a lot done as regards their desire for a New order of coming tyrannical government. Then waited til one month after the house turned over to introduce it. Doesn't make a lick of sense. Did they want to just show they tried and never really wanted it to begin with? Because there are many many Republicans that have donors and constituents that benefit from illegal immigration. Don't let them sell you snake oil. They never really pushed it because they didn't want it through. They didn't want to vote for it and didn't want anyone to see them vote against it. NOW they have the perfect stage to stand up and beat their chest and say how badly we need it. All the while knowing it will never happen. Let's face it. Even if Trump were to do this by declaring national emergency it likely would get held up in courts by some Liberal Federal Judge. But let's say none of them did that. We still aren't going to see the wall before the 2020 election. It is less than 2 years out. There will not be enough time to design, acquire land through eminent domain, let contracts and start construction in that time frame. I just don't see it happening. Maybe if Trump had done it in his first 6 months in office it could have been pulled off.

Its more the way most people live now and needs and opinions change generationally. If you live in a city and dont hunt then why would you think anyone needs a gun. Hunters are a very small part of the population and if you hear everynight on the news of another shooting - your all for the banning the guns cause it doesnt effect you. Its a change in society and most people dont use a gun and less own a gun these days or feel the need for one. Not saying this is what i think but this is the way many people think, and more then we can group against it. People want to feel safe and when you hear of athe mass shootings and nightly shootings - if banning guns is proposed your all for it. Why wouldnt you be? Its a different way of thinking that a lot of us hunters cant seem to grasp. Again i dont agree with it , but if the majority does then we will have to abide. Folks need to step in others shoes and see what they see to understand. Its not a political conspiracy with the media. Hell you cant take a dump without it being posted somewhere. Its a society change whether we like it or not. Lets face WE are the old men on the porch and our time is passing. Most of these people couldnt tell you anything about the constitution and dont care to learn it, they just see gun violence and react to it. Just as they react to everything else these days. Its not sinister , its a reaction to what is happening and losing guns is not a loss to them in any way.

Rattler
Anyone here have any understanding of the various revolutions that have happened around the world in recent history. Iraq, Iran, Cuba, Hungary, etc? These political coups began with a dirty civil war. Anyone know what that is? The elected enemies of the people, who try to oppress them into submission, start to get picked off by revolutionaries, who explain to the people why they are doing it and win the support of the people by doing it. Once they have won the people, there is no way the political traitors can win the revolution. If the American leftist oppressors don't start to throttle back their oppression soon, that is what they can expect. Think it could never happen? Don't bet on it. There are still plenty of free citizens in America who would rather die than live on their knees. All that being said, NY will not be where it starts, because NY citizens would rather live on their knees than be killed fighting for their freedom.

philoshop
I do a lot of work for local farmers. Driving equipment, maintaining equipment, consulting on building projects, etc. They call when they need a hand. I usually am invited to dinner with the family at the end of the day. When politics comes up the reply is. "I don't have time for that, I'm running a business." These are people who wake up thinking about their farm, spend their day working on their farm, and go to bed worrying about the future of their family farm. They know full well what politics is doing to them, and they vote, it's just hard for them to commit any energy to it.
